Rare mid-seventies recordings from the New York City based Versatile tag featuring an all-star lineup of jazz and blues greats uncovering their funky side.

This 1964 Folkways , recorded and produced by Edith Fulton Fowke, is a collection of songs dealing primarily with sailing on the Great Lakes of North America. Fowke's research relies heavily on stories and songs as recollected by descendants of former Great Lakes sailors. The vocal performances on this are both rousing and authentic. Liner notes include brief biographies of the performers as well as lyrics and explanations supplemental to the songs.
