Various Artists - Hallowed Be Thy Name - An Old-Time Religion Collection - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

A unique compilation of old school gospel music culled from various sources documents some regional groups recorded between the early 1950’s and early 1970’s. These groups performed with an old time feeling that transcends the religious implications of the music that eventually paved the way and informed modern “soul” music as we know it. Featured artists include The Golden Eagles Of Alabama, The Crume Brothers, Sunset Four Gospel Singers, The Victorettes, Mary Clay & The Greater Harvest Baptist Church Choir, The Golden Eagles Of Portland, Mattie Johnson And The Stars Of Faith, Greene Sisters and The Mitchellaires. All selections have been newly remastered.
