Hot Wax Records was a soul and R&B record tag founded in 1968 by the legendary songwriting and production team Holland-Dozier-Holland after their departure from Motown Records. Alongside Invictus Records (their other imprint), Hot Wax allowed them to continue creating music independently, with full creative and financial control. • Hot Wax specialized in vibrant, richly produced soul music with a strong pop sensibility - very much an extension of the signature Motown sound but often edgier and funkier.
