About this product

The native music of Bolivia is as varied as the landscape of that fascinating country. From the shores of Lake Titicaca 12,000 feet above sea level to the rich valleys of Cochabamba and Tarija instruments and styles of music range from the monotonous pentatonic incantation played by a group of sicuris (panpipers) in Tarabuco to the lively tonada strummed on a charango in the little market town of Tarata... Bernard Keiler.

Various Artists - Peru-Music of the Indigenous Communities of - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The city of Cuzco, Peru is home to a number of indigenous peasant communities. Much of their music continues to be associated with fertility rites and to mark agrarian cycles, but the Spanish introduced guitars, mandolins, and other instruments that the indigenous peoples adapted and blended into their ancestral music. The songs are sung in Quechua. The liner notes, in English and French, provide information about the geography of the region, the history of it's inhabitants, local rituals involving music, and especially the musical instruments heard on the recording.

Rimsky-Korsakov / Ussr Sym Orch / Svetlanov,Evgeni - Rimsky-korsakov: Famous Suites And Overtures - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

..excellent performances of some captivatingly colourful music. (Russian Easter Festival) splendidly exuberant playing from players who naturally have the stuff of the music in their bones... marvellous gravity and resonance.... (Dubinushka) only a trifle, but quite a rare one. Rimsky-Korsakov heard the song during the 1905 revolutionInch - both his liberal instincts and his musical invention were fired... scored by the master hand and very effective (The Golden Cockerel) excellently played under Svetlanov (he has a marvellously strangled trumpet for the cock-crow) Inch.
