That life is hard is true, and yet we're graced with gifts that make it easier. One of those gifts is Joey Spampinato. The singer, songwriter and bassist was co-founder of NRBQ, a rock quartet who released their first album in 1969 and whose genre-defying music inspired a generation of music fans and especially other musicians. Many of those musicians answered the call from Kami Lyle, and producer Sheldon Gomberg when they contacted them about recording one of Joey's songs for an album to help raise funds for Joey when it was revealed he was battling cancer. The result is Sweet Relief - A tribute to Joey Spampinato, an inspired album of songs written by Joey and recorded by an astounding group of musicians who are all generously donating their proceeds from these previously unreleased recordings to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund to support Joey and other struggling musicians.

Mose Allison's singular style - a unique blend of jazz and blues, his incisive humor, and knack for distilling deep themes into simple potent lyrics made him a major influence on a generation of musicians. It didn't take much convincing for the producers to bring a host of top artists onboard for the tribute collection, If You're Going to the City, including Taj Mahal, Robbie Fulks, Jackson Browne, The Tippo Allstars feat. Fiona Apple, Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite, Chrissie Hynde, Iggy Pop, Bonnie Raitt, Loudon Wainwright III, Richard Thompson, Peter Case, Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin, Anything Mose!, Frank Black, and Amy Allison with Elvis Costello. Each artist chose a favorite Mose Allison song to interpret. Mose's daughter Amy Allison teamed up with musician/producer Don Heffington to honor her father's rich catalog of songs. Lowell George was the guitar virtuoso, vocalist and songwriter for Little Feat. In this collection of 25 songs, artists as Elvis Costello, Ben Harper and Dave Alvin interpret and perform his diverse catalog.George, born in Hollywood, California was a member of Frank Zappas Mothers of Inventions before leaving that band and forming Little Feat with Bill Payne. Lowells tenure in the band was for 7 years until his death and in that time, they released eight albums. While George died in 1979, his legacy lives on through this album..
