About this product
2015 compilation of fantastic rhythm and soul from all over America - the sort of stuff that would have had people dancing at the Scene Club if only it had been known about. The Mod Jazz team of Ady Croasdell and Dean Rudland have dug deep into record collections and tape vaults to come up with 24 examples of high-caliber rhythm and soul, including three previously unreleased masterpieces. Of these, Little Eva's 'Dynamite' is already filling floors whilst 'Got A Good Thing Going On' by Clarence Daniels and Obie Jessie is from the same sessions as their in-demand 'Hard Working Girl'. Other records such as Lil' Bob & The Lollipops I Got Loaded' or Gene Burks Monkey Man' are already sought-after rarities. The compilation really comes into it's own with it's unearthing of underappreciated singles from some of the most iconic record labels such as King, Musicor, Arock, Modern and Fraternity. This could be the start of a very danceable series.

2016 collection containing 24 tracks of hip-shaking club soul, and vintage R&B compiled by Ady Croasdell and Dean Rudland. The selection would have filled mod dancefloors at any time in the culture's 50+ year history. Modernism mixes tracks discovered during mod's various reincarnations with records so obscure that they have yet to have their day in the sun. Despite the general level of obscurity there is no lowering of standards. Bigger names such as Chuck Jackson with 'Beg Me', Lou Johnson with 'Magic Potion' and Darrow Fletcher on 'I've Gotta Know Why' are all sought-after masterpieces. There are a slew of previously unknown gems from the US, including Chet Ivey's 'Soul Is My Game', hidden on a b-side, Leroy Harris' I'm Gonna Get You' and the Shirelles unreleased at the time 'Crossroads In Your Heart'. The CD sports photographs from Paul Hallam's critically acclaimed study of 1980s mods, the book Odd and Sods, and in-depth sleeve notes.

2008 debut from the most exciting and original band born out of the rich cultural melting-pot of London's underground music scene. This half-Brazilian, half-British outfit, singing in both English and Portuguese, have drawn upon unashamedly old-school flavors to create the new sound of Raw Afro-Brazilian Funk. This album explores the rich and uncharted territory between Afro-Brazilian rhythms and '60s Funk syncopations, in the process creating a whole new signature sound. Truto.
