About this product

The Popcorn genre is a style of music and dancing first established in Belgium (the Land of Beers) in the late 1960s and it got it's name from a discotheque called the Popcorn. This style includes a pretty eclectic and wide range of American R&B and pop songs mostly recorded in the 1950s and mid-1960s in a slow or medium tempo and often in a minor key. Popcorn can be recognized by it's tempo just as much as it's sound. In an article for The Guardian titled InchBelgium's 'Popcorn the last underground music scene in EuropeInch musician and writer Bob Stanley wrote Inchthe purity of Belgian Popcorn is it's very impurity. R&B, Broadway numbers, tangos, Phil Spector-Esque girl groups, and loungey instrumentals, they are all constituent parts of a rare, and still largely undiscovered scene. It won't stay that way forever.

The Chi-Lites - For God's Sake Give More Power To The People - Yellow - VINYL LP

The Chi-Lites' third album, Inch(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the PeopleInch, finds the group tapping into the social consciousness movement of the early '70s, presumably influenced by contemporaries like Sly & the Family Stone and fellow Chicagoan Curtis Mayfield. They had one of sweetest voices in soul music with Eugene Record, but their 1971 showed a different side of the band, both in terms of lyrical content and production on tracks like InchWe Are NeighborsInch. Ironically, the biggest single on the album was InchHave You Seen Her?Inch, a sweet soul ballad which topped the R&B charts. Inch(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the PeopleInch was the best album the Chi-Lites ever released, and it's finally coming back to vinyl for the first time in decades. The music sounds better than ever on this exclusive transparent yellow color vinyl pressing, mastered from original analog tapes.
