About this product

Four years before the musical adventure that led Ry Cooder in Havana to record the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, the French journalist, DJ and producer Francois Jouffa had already recorded the most important singers and musicians of Santiago de Cuba, the country's second city and the capital of son. The blending of African, European and American, but also Haitian, influences have made Santiago de Cuba's music the embodiment of Cuban-ness, the best of which is here handed down to posterity. Artists include Septeto Tipico Oriental and Conga Los Hoyos.

Severed Heads - Viva Heads - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The first ever live CD from Severed Heads, digitally recorded at various performances in Europe and Australia between 1998 and 2005. Seamlessly produced and edited by Tom Ellard, the set gives new twists to old favorites, and ranges from Techno through Electronica to modern composition (with a beat). Unusual for a live album, crowd noise has been entirely removed. 13 tracks, LTM. 2006.

Fridge - Early Output 1996-1998 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Fridge's music playfully skated all over the musical map, jumping from bashing lo-fi punk to sublime expanses of downtempo dance with equal enthusiasm. With their tag (Output Recordings) now defunct, and Fridge having spawned no less than three successful side projects (Four Tet, Adem, and Kieran Hebden's collaborations with jazz legend Steve Reid), it was time to a band-curated collection of their most memorable tracks from those wildly prolific years. Also includes six previously unreleased tracks from that era. Re-mastered, with photos and extensive liner notes from friends, collaborators, and the band.
