'Give Me One More Shot' (KM-CD-35) is the second album from our 'Koko Mojo' Mississippi roots series. The album offers an insight as to the birth place of rhythm 'n' blues artists. This album offers an interesting mixture of blues performances, all of which have trekked the passage of time and still sound fresh and vibrant. Upon migration many artists benefited from better production and distribution of their recordings and fame and fortune was the dream. The albums variety of sound features the man of mystery Robert Johnson, the obscure Jack Davis and Ike Turner along with several of his band members. Several 'Trumpet' artists are again featured with recordings for the tag and beyond, we include one Wally Mercer through association with 'Trumpet' Numerous artists migrated from their birth place, and for many Chicago was the blues mecca. Within this series the auditory of those who stayed within their home areas is clear, and for those who migrated mainly the backing was different, the blues became 'electric'. None the less rarely were the downholme blues intonations none apparent in the big city recordings. The African American folk traditions no matter where the musicians travelled were deep inside these performers. Every album has sleeve notes and 28 songs, mastered for the best possible sound available. The concept of these albums allows a variety of wide-ranging black music chosen by the theme of birth to be collected onto the albums. This makes the aural sound of the series different from that of a tag-based collection. The mixed variety of artists include hitmakers, Bobby Day, Ray Sharpe and Marie Adams from the Johnny Otis Show. Piano rockers are heard from; Roy Hawkins, Floyd Dixon, Ivory Joe Hunter, Charles Brown and Amos Milburn and chanteuse Camille Howard all of whom offer different techniques of keyboard playing. The Downhome Blues comes from traditional roots performers; Harmonica Slim and Lightnin' Hopkins. The guitar Blues artists include Pee Wee Crayton, Barbara Lynn, and Freddy King and with horns to drive the song along Cal Valentine and The Texas Rockers have a catchy hook in their instrumental tune. The album climaxes with the wild and raucous Blues rocker from Young Jessie. Together all the artists featured perform a variety of music and many styles of Roots music are featured on I'm Tore Down.
