Various Artists - Studio One Lovers Rock - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2013 collection. Soul Jazz Records continues to dig deeper into the vaults of the mighty Studio One, the most important record tag in the history of Reggae music. Studio One Ironsides refers back to a time in the 1960s and 1970s when Clement Dodd was at the height of his powers, releasing so much amazing music that Studio One had to invent new tag names to trick radio DJs, wary of playing too much music from the legendary studio, into playing records. These creatively titled new tag names included Ironsides, Money Disc, ND Records, Bongo Man, Forward and more. As ever the album includes an incredible line-up of only the finest reggae artists - the Skatalites, Freddie McGregor, Alton Ellis, the Gladiators, Johnny Osbourne, Cornell Campbell, Dennis Alcapone, Prince Jazzbo, Lone Ranger - all of whom made their names at Studio One.

REGGAE VIRUS RIDDIM / VARIOUS - The remastered collection from Tad's International Recording Studio adds sharp detail and vibrant textures, pulling listeners deeper into reggae's emotional pulse. Brass virtuoso Dean Fraser adds sonic fire, while legends like Mykal Rose and Wayne Wade keep the riddim's heartbeat steady. - What connects each performance is intent. These songs soothe, but they also provoke reflection, pushing back against cynicism and despair. In their hands, reggae becomes balm, shield, and spark all at once.

Originating from an island where back-to-back days of warm sunshine and blue skies are enjoyed throughout the year, it's cool, laid-back vibes provide the perfect musical accompaniment to those precious moments spent lazing by the sea, soaking in the sun, or just chilling in the shade. And it is specifically for those seeking to enhance their summer season by immersing themselves in the glorious sound of Jamaica that we present 'Reggae In The Sun', an irresistible celebration of glorious sun-filled tracks from the late 70s and early 80s, performed by some of the island's greatest artists.
