About this product

RCA Victor was so inexorably connected with Elvis from 1956 on that the rest of it's massive rock and roll talent roster sometimes gets overlooked. This second edition of Bear Family's 'That'll Flat Git It' series with recordings from the RCA vaults rectifies that injustice mightily, sporting savage rockers from the wildest men and women in RCA's stable. Quite a few of them - Ric Cartey, Roy Orbison, Gordon Terry, Dave Rich, Marlin Greene, The Morgan Twins, rockabilly queen Janis Martin - did their recording under Chet Atkins' production aegis in Nashville. But just as many - Joe Clay, Lee Denson, David Houston, Sammy Salvo, David Hill, Jean Chapel, David Houston, Jimmy Dell - waxed their RCA classics elsewhere. Victor steered veteran country acts Pee Wee King, Autry Inman, Terry Fell, Anita Carter, Benny Martin, and Bill Carlisle, into the exciting new rockabilly sub-genre as well. They're all aboard this sparkling compilation, which cuts loose with blistering intensity from first track to last!

Various Artists - That'll Flat Git It 32: Rockabilly & Rock From The Vaults - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Apart from big names we present the greatest unknowns like the fantastic guitarist Sandy Coker, the Tyrones, The Bay Bops or Chuck Johnston. Awesome!Bear Family's fourth plunge into the combined Decca, Coral, and Brunswick vaults for it's 'That'll Flat... Git It' series provides more than a few surprises alongside some of the hottest rockabilly and rock and roll of the 1950s. Decca maintained a strong presence in Nashville under the A&R aegis of Paul Cohen and Owen Bradley, recording a plethora of stars there - pint-sized Brenda Lee, the brawling Burnette brothers, Wayne Walker, Ronnie Self, even Buddy Holly, and they're all here. New York and Los Angeles are well-represented as well. As usual with this series, it's the obscure stuff that collectors will flip over - dazzling guitarist Sandy Coker, Canadian import Arnie Derksen, a stormer from Mitchell Torok, The Tyrones' tough Rocker Broke Down Baby, and eye-openers from The Bay Bops, The Barker Brothers, Chuck Johnston and The Jay Cees, Johnny Duffett, Arthur Osborne, and Dodie Randle's two overheated anthems. Those bottomless Decca vaults never disappoint!

Various Artists - That'll Flat Git It Vol. 34: Rockabilly And Rock 'n' Roll From The Vaults - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The first CD compilation ever with recordings from the vaults of the record companies Blue Moon and Bella Records from Santa Clara and San José in California respectively. The album includes the complete recordings of Johnny Amelio and Joe Gradie and presents many more rockers.More than ten tracks are released here for the first time on CD, and two numbers were completely unknown until now rare demos by The downbeats with Johnny Amelio, which we dubbed from a rare acetate. The booklet provides never before seen photos and detailed information about the history of the labels Blue Moon and Bella. The two record labels Blue Moon and Bella Records from California were both owned by John Pusateri, who originally came from Franklin, Louisiana, and moved to San José in the 1920s. There he first founded Bella Records and in 1957 Blue Moon Records in Santa Clara. In keeping with the concept of the Bear Family's 'That'll Flat Git It!' series, only the most rocking titles from the Blue Moon & Bella catalogues were selected for this . And these recordings can compete with the best of the genre! Here we tell one of those stories that record collectors dream about! In addition to the more well-known musicians such as Johnny Amelio, the Savoys and Gradie O'Neal, you'll find a large number of lesser-known colleagues such as Buddy Bennett, Chuck Royal, Joe Jaros and the Empala Six - to name but a few.Since most of the original master tapes are lost forever, the majority of the masters have been transferred from rare and hard to find original single releases (45's), carefully restored and remastered to meet Bear Family's quality standards. This is a promising and long-awaited project that we hope will be welcomed with open ears by fans of Rockabilly, by those who basically love the music of the fifties and by all those who are passionate about the music scenes and culture of California.
