About this product
Bear Family's standard-setting 'That'll Flat Git' It' is widely accepted as the new gold standard in rockabilly reissues. Incredible compilations, sparkling sound remastered from first generation tapes, full and detailed liner notes, complete discographies, and unpublished photos. Cheaper than downloads! Cheaper than buying just one of the original singles! After two volumes drawn from the American Columbia tag, you'd think we'd be running low on good stuff... but not so. In addition to established rockabilly stars like Billy 'Crash' Craddock, the Collins Kids, Johnny Horton, and Ronnie Self, we've added a few non-rockabillies making a very creditable stab at the shaking music (like pop star Jimmy Boyd and country stars Billy Walker, Mel Tillis, John D. Loudermilk, Carl Story, and Marty Robbins), and we've added some of the rarest, most sought-after rockabilly from hitherto unknown artists, like Jaycee Hill, the Skee Brothers, Chuck Murphy, Leon Smith, and Eddie Zack. Now we have photos and stories on them all, plus their very best songs. Other series lose steam after a while, but 'That'll Flat Git It' just keeps getting better and better!

Rockabilly from the vaults of Columbia Records! Back in 1992, we decided that Rockabilly sounded good on CD, so we had the idea that we should create the all-time definitive Rockabilly series, 'That'll Flat Git It!'Above all, Rockabilly was music recorded for 45RPM singles, so we designed a Rockabilly series tag-by-tag instead of artist-by-artist, and we compiled it for listening pleasure. Just the great stuff, plus a few super rarities. Every CD would be for the most part a 30 song jukebox of the finest Rockabilly ever recorded for all the great labels. We sourced the very best sounding tapes and took them to the best mastering engineers, and then we took the packaging to a new level. We adopted the catchphrase of the first Rockabilly dee-jay, Dewey Phillips, 'That'll Flat Git It!', and we hired Bill Millar, who'd compiled the still-classic tag-oriented Rockabilly LPs in the 1970s and 1980s, to write the notes. We looked for previously unpublished photos, and tried to find all the artists who'd never been found before. The result is a truly definitive Rockabilly series that now runs to twenty-seven volumes.

2008 . Atlantic Records is one of the great labels in American popular music. From classic R&B singers like Joe Turner, LaVern Baker, and the Drifters to Soul stars like Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, and Solomon Burke, and Classic Rock artists like the Rolling Stones, Yes, Led Zeppelin, and many others, Atlantic has been at the forefront of popular music since it's inception in 1948. As an early sixtieth birthday present, we're reissuing 29 recordings that Atlantic probably forgot they ever made! It's the one side of the tag's long story that has never been told The attempt to score Rock hits during the late '50s that started with a failed attempt to sign Elvis. This collection includes the fabulous original version of a song that Elvis later covered, 'Judy', as well as the original version of a song that Buddy Holly later recorded, 'Rave On'. Additionally, it features incredibly rare early recordings by David Gates, founder of the '70s Soft Rock band, Bread, as well as Bill Haley's Comets, recording as the Kingsmen. 29 tracks. Bear Family.
