Various Artists - Unsound / Various - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The stage is set, the mic checked and the set list ready. In the early summer of 2011, Brandon Apeles (Anuhea, Amos Lee, Guy Cruz, Matt Costa, Andrew Bird, Owl City) and Shawn Livingston Moseley (Elliot Smith, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, Converge, Jeff Buckley) agreed to co produce an alternative rock compilation featuring the most promising artists from across the Hawaiian Islands and the top underground talent it had to offer. With over 20 collective years of studio recording, concert touring, live recording, artist management and multiple Na-H-oku -Hanohano and GRAMMY® nominations and wins, the Apeles/Moseley production team set course with a clear and substantial agenda to capture the most slamming and credible audio snapshot of Hawaii's Alternative Rock scene to date. Over 65 artist/musicians and thousands of fans later, Alternative HI is born.

Sister imprint unfold presents a seminal collection of Tru Thoughts artists 'covers' that have helped define the tag over it's 10 year history. This compilation also includes brand new material from artists such as Quantic & his Combo Barbaro, Nostalgia 77, Lizzy Parks, Woon, Bugz in the Attic and more. 'Tru Thoughts Covers' offers a mighty selection of the most pivotal and interesting cover versions to have peppered Tru Thoughts' ten years of releases. Boasting many crossover hits from Nostalgia 77 and Alice Russell's epic take on The White Stripes; to the Quantic Soul Orchestra's version of 4hero; via The Bamboos' mod-soul reimagining of Kings of Leon; and Hot 8 Brass Band's rambunctious, world-renowned version of InchSexual HealingInch, taking Marvin Gaye to the Mardi Gras, in fine style. Plenty of people habitually pigeonhole music, but this album connects the songs of The White Stripes, Portishead, Marvin Gaye, 4hero, Max Sedgeley, Mr Scruff, Frank Sinatra, Kings of Leon, Fedde Le Grand, Michael Jackson, The Strokes, The Kooks, Eminem, Roni Size & Reprazents, The Quantic Soul Orchestra, Jeff Buckley, and Olive - and you sure-as-hell don't see those names appearing on the same sleeve notes every day!

The third episode of the InchWeimarer KlassikInch is again dedicated to musical treasures from Thuringia. This time Max Pommer and the Thuringia Chamber Orchestra Weimar have concentrated on music of the 18th century, with an emphasis on the symphonic genre. Lovers of classical and pre-classical music can look forward to unusual discoveries. Max Pommer (born 9 February 1936) is a German musicologist and conductor, a director of the Leipziger Universitätschor and the founder and conductor of the Neues Bachisches Collegium Musicum. From 1987 to 1991, Pommer was Generalmusikdirektor of the MDR Sinfonieorchester. He was the conductor of the Hamburger Camerata from 2001 to 2011, when he celebrated his 75th birthday.
