This third album of Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen with their ensemble Hirundo Maris on Carpe Diem Records is a musical journey along coasts and oceans, an ode to seafarers and travelers from ancient and modern times, to their lives, hopes and dreams. The windrose points into all cardinal points, encompassing all different cultures and places on earth in it's movement. At the same time, it can be a symbol for the inner travels of the human soul which may aim into all different directions and places throughout life. In this sense, the songs on this album connect inner and outer journeying through music and poetry, just as countries and people are connected through oceans, currents, and winds. Album Tracks 1. Sea Fever 2. Lamento de Chinita 3. Oh, Shenandoah 4. Carolan's Suite 5. Scarborough Fair 6. Yo Soy la Locura 7. Fisher's Hornpipe 8. Sailor Boy 9. House Carpenter 10. Ave Maris Stella 11. The recording of this Chanson du vent is a celebration of Adolphe Biarent. This greatly neglected composer emerged from the shadows thanks to three album releases by Cypres. The cycle of Huit mélodiesfor mezzo-soprano completes this process aiming as it does to highlight an exceptional musical personality through world premiere recordings. Such an action can only work when based upon the total dedication of thoroughly committed performers who enhance a program inspired by the musical orientalism in vogue at that time. Album Tracks 1. Huit Mélodies Pour Mezzo-Soprano 2. La Captive (Orientale) Op. 12 3. Chanson Mauresque de Tunis 4. Medjé (Chanson Arabe) 5. Adieu de L'hôtesse Arabe 6. La Mort D'ophélie 7. La Brise (Mélodies Persanes Op. 26) 8. Alger Le Soir 9. Le Caravane Op. 14
