About this product

Christopher J. Keyes's new album, Ravello Records' A CONNOTATION OF INFINITY, speaks directly to why listeners should embrace the transgressive element of electronics in traditional classical music. Keyes, who wrote as much software for the album as he did music, employs what he calls a 3D audio for a more immersive listening experience. Keyes's latest , which features performances of select pieces on video, envelopes and entrances the minds of listeners from all walks of life. The album opens with the 17+ minute epic Of Worlds Beyond. Performed by an orchestra, the composition possesses a well-rounded quality of sound. Another unique feature in Keyes's album is the use of non-musical elements to influence the piece. In Four Improvisations on Cummings, the composer uses keyboard sensors to detect pitch and dynamics that, when played, subsequently trigger text from poems in E.E. Cummings' collection InchTulips and Chimneys.Inch Resonant Passages features images and sounds of Hong Kong traffic as an accent to the composition's reflection on how streams of images and sounds resonate with us as listeners and human beings. In some compositions, the piano gives way to other instruments that star the show. Antiphon in Memory of Pierre Boulez, for instance, is a piece written for two flutes and two clarinets, paying homage to the late composer through the minimalist use of processing available in Boulez' time. Tree of Remembrance features only violin and tape. An homage to Henri Dutilleux, Keyes wrote the composition to loosely mirror Dutilleux's violin concerto InchL'Arbre Des Songs.Inch

The Chameleons - Arctic Moon - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. 2025 . Arctic Moon is the first full-length album by Chameleons since 2001, marking the return of one of the most influential bands of the 80's and 90's. Long cited as a hugely influential act, having inspired the likes of (The) Verve, Oasis, Interpol, The Killers, Editors and White Lies, Chameleons are renowned for their transformative catalogue and intense, emotionally charged live performances, creating a legacy that extends far beyond their four studio albums to date. Their widely acclaimed debut, 'Script of the Bridge' (1983) has been cited by many as a masterpiece way ahead of it's time, and was followed by 'What Does Anything Mean? Basically!' (1984), 'Strange Times' (1986) and 'Why Call It Anything?' (2001). Their unique sound quickly won them an audience with it's mix of melancholic yet energetic and powerful tunes, hypnotic, ethereal riffs and a potent, timeless lyrical style. They are considered one of the most influential guitar bands of the '80s and '90s, contributing substantially to the post-punk, shoegaze and indie scenes.

Manuela Custer - Pilati: Liriche da camera - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Mario Pilati was born in Naples on 16 October 1903. His life was very short, intense and troubled. Together with his siblings, he was introduced as a child into the study of music, as was the custom in Neapolitan upper-middle- class families. He immediately showed a great talent as a pianist and an overflowing creativeness at the age of 13 he had already decided that music was to be his profession. His father attempted to thwart his artistic calling by making him enrol in a technical school, but, with the help of his mother, he managed to go on with his musical studies at the early age of 20 he took a diploma with honours in composition at the Conservatorio S. Pietro a Majella of Naples, under the guidance of Antonio Savasta. He immediately looked for a job, in order to become independent of his family his father not only disapproved of his musical career, but also never accepted his engagement with Antonietta Margiotta, whom he married in 1928 and with whom he had three daughters, Annamaria, Laura and Giovanna. The award-winning specialists Manuela Custer and Raffaele Cortesi (already protagonists of the recent recording Liriche su testi di Dante, tc 840003) are the interpreters of the rediscovery of the vocal chamber music of the brilliant Neapolitan composer.

Various Artists - Infinity - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The inspiration for the Infinity project was the permanent breathing technique. The flautist - Natalia Jarzabek - can apply it almost inaudibly and imperceptibly, doing it in a fluid and natural manner. The album was recorded in cooperation with outstanding pianist Emma Wils, a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. The repertoire included on the album is very diverse It contains pieces for flute, as well as transcriptions of original works for piano, violin or both, performed by Natalia Jarzabek. The presence of newly created compositions written specifically for the Infinity project constitutes a significant value of the album. As part of the project, a special textbook for learning permanent breathing was created.
