About this product

Enjott Schneider is one of the most productive and successful composers of our time. Instead of chasing after the elusive goal of progressivity like many of his colleagues, he looks for common ground with people of different cultures, for universal musical values that transcend geography and history. Schneider first achieved international fame as the composer of hundreds of scores for films such as InchHerbstmilchInch (1989), InchSchlafes BruderInch (1995), or InchBibi Blocksberg und das Geheimnis der blauen EulenInch (2004), but his orchestral works also have a richly varied narrative quality that is documented in WERGO' s series of recordings dedicated to his music. Featuring internationally acclaimed soloists Lukasz Dlugosz and - in the double concerto - Agata Kielar-Dlugosz, this newest recording presents multi-faceted compositions for flute and orchestra. Common to all of them is a narrative tone that evokes the spirit of forests and water as well as the legendary ancient Chinese concubine and Imperial consort Yang Guifei, who is credited with the cultivation and popularization of flute playing in courtly circles. The Asian atmosphere of the final work on the recording creates a bridge to the double concerto at the beginning, where InchwaterInch is explicitly used as a metaphor for Daoism. Western symphonic music is united here with Chinese harmonies and melodic shapes. Album Tracks 1. Water - Element of Infinity Concerto for two flutes and orchestra~I. Water Is the Way of Dao 2. Water - Element of Infinity Concerto for two flutes and orchestra~II. Garden of Pearly Fountains 3. Water - Element of Infinity Concerto for two flutes and orchestra~III. Secret of Lowest Places 4. Olga Reiser is a Russian-born flutist from Wiesbaden/Germany. In addition to classical music, Olga Reiser also delights her audiences with modern playing techniques such as beatbox flute, multiphonics and looping. The flute is well known as an orchestral instrument and is also frequently used in chamber music, but it is little known as a solo instrument. Olga Reiser has set out to make the flute more popular! The album InchFlute TalesInch covers the whole range of music for solo flute from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, as well as pieces with modern playing techniques such as the aforementioned beatbox flute, multiphonics and improvisation. A special focus of the musical design here are experiments with a loop station that can record sounds and play them back in a continuous loop, creating polyphonic music live before the eyes of the audience. The programme InchFlute TalesInch is very exciting and accessible for every listener. The compositions Olga Reiser has chosen for her album are not only beautiful pieces for flute solo, but also reflect experiences and events from her life from student days to the present. From it's origins as one of the oldest musical instruments known to man to the sophisticated mechanics and elegant design today, the flute has been highly significant for every culture and historical period. Prized for the vocal character in it's sound, composers such as Bach and Mozart used it for some of their most beautiful, aria-like melodies. Spectacular virtuosity later became part of the flute's nature as can be heard in Doppler's Rigoletto-fantaisie, while impressionist composers such as Debussy saw it's timeless qualities as a window into nature or the sensual mysteries of a distant and mythological past. Album Tracks 1. Overture (Suite) No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067 Bach, Johann Sebastian - Classical Composer 2. 1. Overture (Suite) No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067 VII. Badinerie 3.
