About this product
Brussels Vocal Project with composer and drummer John Hollenbeck has created modernized versions of classic tales. The composer used lyrics written by the collective to explore the possibilities of an unusual setting fives voices and drums. Humor flirts with strangeness in these contemporary pieces while never losing focus on the narrative. Hollenbeck is a composer of music uncategorizable beyond the fact of being always identifiably his. A conceptualist able to translate the traditions of jazz and new music into a fresh, eclectic, forward-looking language of his own invention, intellectually rewarding yet ever accessibly vibrant. A drummer and percussionist possessed of a playful versatility and a virtuosic wit. Most of all, a musical thinker - whether putting pen to paper or conjuring spontaneous sound - allergic to repetition, forever seeking to surprise himself and his audiences. Album Tracks 1. Fish on Land 2. The Prime Minister's New Art 3. Fire 4. Miss Misunderstood 5. The Nightingale / Jenny 6. The Nightingale / A.I. Kimmy 7. Three Little Piggies 8. Green Lady 9. Red

After more than a half-decade after their breakthrough debut album, Snowden returns with No One in Control. Jordan Jeffares - the multi-talented mind behind Snowden - toiled for almost six years, pushing himself and his music ever closer to madness, and that hermetic intensity can be heard in each facet of the record, finely etched with the help of producer Bill Skibbe (John Spencer, Blues Explosion, the Kills, Fiery Furnaces). from the syrupy pulse beats of So Red; to the nihilistic euphoria of the first single, the Beat Comes, Snowden has crafted a vivid portrait of obsession and isolation, of gut-wrenching doubt and ultimate redemption. With it's seamless integration of haunting melodies, rhythmic ingenuity, and deft songcraft, No One in Control sees Snowden's artistry and ambition ascending to untouched new heights. Album Tracks 1. No One in Control 2. So Red 3. Anemone Arms 4. The Beat Comes 5. Hiss 6. Keep Quiet 7. Don't Really Know Me 8. Not Good Enough 9. Candy for Everyone 10. No Words No More 11. This Year
