About this product
Velvetone's sound is sultry, swampy, sexy, dusty and slick. This roots rock 'n roll quartet plays the Voodoo Twang so dark and diabolic, the country-chick-a-boom so steady rollin', the Diddley Beat so hypnotic, the rockabilly so razorsharp and the R&B so dirty, that you'll bet Ray DeVaryo, Tammo Lueers, Andy Merck and Lars Koester spend their whole life in the bands of Link Wray, Johnny Cash, Tony Joe White, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, the Blasters or the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Velvetone continue their unorthodox roots-mix set on their third album InchSwitchback Ride,Inch flowing in the same vein as their predecessor InchDark BlossomInch (CRO #12003). It's a savage ride through the Americana universe.

Velvetone's new studio album contains nothing but Pure Soul Food, seasoned with the rage and snot of early Rock'n'Roll, intensified by the sounds of Rhythm'n'Blues and Country music. Fourteen new songs, the band is sticking to it's roots - vintage rock'n'roll, country music, soul and blues.
Originally released in 2000, Mason Jennings' sophomore firmly establishes him as a singer/songwriter with staying power. It reveals his penchant for singing first-person narratives of imaginary rustic characters. The New York Times compared him to Dave Matthews and in 2016, City Pages said that Birds Flying Away was Mason Jennings' best record.Inch'Birds Flying Away' is the portrait of a thoughtful 25 year-old discovering the world and his responsibility to be a positive voice.Inch amazon customer review
