2017 . Ten years after Blu and Exile released their magnum opus Below the Heavens, the California duo have reunited to 14 tracks from the original 2007 sessions. In the Beginning Before the Heavens contains previously heard songs and unreleased gems - the best of the best chosen from over 40 songs in the vault. Their third collaboration follows 2012's Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them, and is slated for an October . In The Beginning Before the Heavens is made of up songs that are raw and untouched, keeping the authenticity of Blu and Exile's creativity at the time. The album has guest appearances from familiar names like Dr. Oop, Donel Smokes, Aloe Blacc, and Blame One. While InchSoul Provider,Inch InchAnother Day,Inch and InchParty of TwoInch appeared on Blu's Lifted EP, the majority of these songs showcase Blu rapping at his peak, maintaining his underground attitude as he dishes on reaching star status (InchConstellationsInch), getting radio play (InchOn the RadioInch), or opposing views in a problem-ridden world (InchYou're Gonna Die SomedayInch). Exile, meanwhile, builds a golden hip-hop era feel with head-nodding samples and DJ scratches.

Ljubka Biagioni, the 2002 winner of the European Union's Franco Capuana International Competition for Conductors, was born into the family of an Italian politician in Rome. After receiving a classical education at a grammar school and intensive piano tuition, she won a scholarship to study music theory at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, where she graduated with distinction as a choral and orchestral conductor. After graduating, she undertook further studies with Karl Österreicher in Varna, Bulgaria, Norbert Balatsch and Leonard Bernstein at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and Ferdinand Leitner and Valery Gergiev at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. In 1997, her career significantly benefited from working with Ilya Musin and Valery Gergiev in Rotterdam. She has been principal conductor of Sofia Symphonics since 2013. Her status as one of Sofia's great musical figures is confirmed by the nigh on euphoric reactions to the most recent performance of her Traviata at the National Palace of Culture.

Over his first three albums, Homeshake's Peter Sagar followed his own idiosyncratic vision, a journey that's taken him from sturdy guitar-based indie-pop to a bleary-eyed take on lo-fi R&B. Now, with Helium, Sagar is putting down roots in aesthetic territory all his own. It comes through not only in the gauziness of the production, but also in the vulnerability of the songs themselves. Everyone Sagar encounters here - including himself - seems to be a step removed from present reality, whether by technology (InchAnything At AllInch), solitude (InchJust Like MyInch), or sweet fantasy (InchLike MariahInch). Helium was recorded and mixed by Sagar alone in his apartment in Montreal in early 2018. Freed of the rigid editing process he'd endured before, he was able to lose himself in pursuit of tone and texture. A budding interest in ambient and experimental music pushed him to tinker with the micro-sounds that surround the songs here.
