About this product
Transparent Cream Vinyl. Referencing the easy, sleazy sounds of the 90s, London-based, Austrian-Brazilian artist Viji - real name Vanilla Jenner - has been cementing herself as one of the most exciting alternative artists to watch in the UK. Having previously released music on Dirty Hit, she recently signed to Speedy Wunderground and has rapidly built a loyal fanbase whilst receiving widespread plaudits from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders, BBC Radio 6 Music's Steve Lamacq, CLASH, Dork, DIY, Wonderland, So Young, and many more. Her debut album, So Vanilla, was recorded predominantly in London, in partnership with four-time Mercury Prize nominated producer and Speedy Wunderground tag head, Dan Carey (Fontaines D.C., Kae Tempest, Wet Leg). Completed in November 2022, Viji shares that every song had a different writing process - some saw her and Carey playing guitar chords together for hours, until the sounds fused into one, and others came from late night ramblings at home.

Patricia J nger - Portrait [COMPACT DISCS] date 10/31/2006
The emergence of Swedish duo JJ in March 2009 was both meaningful and mysterious. A debut single, JJ no.1, enchanted the music press, simultaneously existing across indie-pop and hip-hop spectrums, excitingly new and yet frustratingly vague in it's presentation. This was a taste, a scent, something intangible, an impression made without force. The music was here, but little else it's makers remained anonymous. Pitchfork's Best New Music review for the band's debut album, summer 2009's JJ no.2, spoke first of their enigmatic qualities, rather than precisely what this music was another sumptuous menagerie of styles, blended by an expert hand, intoxicating and otherworldly. Both Elin Kastlander and Joakim Benon appeared in the Marcus Soderlund-directed video to Let Go. Cover, broken. Evidently at the top of their game in 2014, JJ are ready to, in Benon's word fascinating without resolution.
