About this product
Darling Arithmetic is the third album from Villagers’ Conor O’ Brien. His 2010 debut Becoming A Jackal and {Awayland} his 2013 – both Mercury Prize-nominated, while the latter won Ireland’s Choice Prize – were detailed, multi-faceted affairs, so Darling Arithmetic is a brave and committed new step forward. O’Brien plays every instrument on these exquisite, melodic songs in a beautifully sparse, spacious, intimate, acoustic-leaning fashion, as well as recording and mixing it himself at home, revealing a single-minded artist at the peak of his already considerable songwriting powers.

Villagers is pleased to announce his fifth studio album Fever Dreams. Written over the course of two years, the main bodies of the songs were recorded in a series of full-band studio sessions in late 2019 and early 2020. Over the course of the long, slow pandemic days, O'Brien refined them in his tiny home studio in Dublin, and the album was then mixed by David Wrench (Frank Ocean, The xx, FKA Twigs). O'Brien says on the gestation of Fever Dreams InchI had an urge to write something that was as generous to the listener as it was to myself. Sometimes the most delirious states can produce the most ecstatic, euphoric and escapist dreams.Inch1. Something Bigger2. The First Day3. Song In Seven4. So Simpatico5. Momentarily6. Circles In The Firing Line7. Restless Endeavour8. Full Faith In Providence9. Fever Dreams10. Deep In My Heart
Following the kaleidoscopic adventure of Villagers' fifth album Fever Dreams, award-winning Dublin singer-songwriter-instrumentalist-dramatist Conor O'Brien returns with the intimate inventory that he has named That Golden Time.No less intense than it's more feverish predecessor, the exquisite new album un-furls O'Brien's trademark melodic flair, his gift for simultaneously vivid and subtle arrangements and lyrics that couch his hopes, fears and dreams in richly absorb-ing poetry.
