The greatest variety acts of the past -- humorists, bands, vaudevillians, dramatists, dancers and more -- return for a second collection of the earliest of the venerable Vitaphone sound shorts. Entertainers from coast to coast, from stage and screen, from the heights of Brooklyn to the valleys of Hollywood, all shared the spotlight as cinema learned to play with sound. Nestled in among 35 Jazz Age gems to be found on this 2-Disc collect

Samuel "Shemp Howard" Horowitz wrote his own rules for comedy from the very beginning. Heckling his way into brother Moe's "rough house" act with Ted Healy, Shemp was an original Stooge. After Larry Fine filled out the team, fame beckoned, but Shemp balked at playing second banana to Healy and lit out on his own as a Vitaphone player. Shemp quickly rose from bit parts in shorts like Gobs of Fun to supporting player alongside Daphne Poll

It's time to once again take your front-row seats to the best variety show of the Jazz Age, as the vaunted and venerable Vitaphone presents a third collection of vintage Vaudeville and more sound shorts! Stars and almost-stars of song, stage and screen from the East Coast to the West Coast can all be seen -- and most importantly heard -- in this scintillating collection of 16 shorts that present a passport to the vanished entertainments
