About this product

For years, Peter Kopp and his Vocal Concert Dresden have been making a name for themselves through the discographic of highly interesting and hitherto little-noticed compilations and programs. After works of the Dresden court music or Venetian treasures, it was most recently Masonic music of the 18th century. Now music of the Moravian Church, the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. It's historical significance and international appeal, which literally radiates from a tranquil village in Upper Lusatia into the entire world, will not only celebrate it's 300th anniversary next year, but will also be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Through the brothers' emigration and mission to North America, they left behind a fascinating musical treasure there that is considered one of the cornerstones of North American musical history. In the 18th and early 19th centuries, one could encounter high-quality music from Europe in the settlements of the Brethren, there called InchMoravians.Inch The Moravians thus became a musical bridge between Europe and the New World. What is remarkable about this connection is that compositions written in faraway places were also brought back to Germany and again included in the repertoire here. This may have been an absolutely unique feature of the Herrnhuter in the 18th century. Notwithstanding it's high repertoire value, this production presents festive Christmas music. It will appeal to the lover of baroque Christmas music as well as to the listener who wishes to broaden his or her musical spectrum. Album Tracks 1. Macht Hoch Die TÜR 2. Uns Ist Ein Kind Geboren 3. Den Hirten Dort Auf Bethle'ms Feld 4. Mein Herz Dichtet Ein Feines Lied 5. Den Aller Welt Kreis Nie Beschloss 6. O Verehrungswürd'ge Nacht 7. Loveliest Immanuel 8. Hail Infant Newborn 9. Bartholdy / Bozen - Symphonies 7 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Felix Mendelssohn's string symphonies can be broadly split into two groups the first six all have a three-movement structure; the movements of the first three are ordered fast-slow-fast and are thus based on the pre-Classical models. The second group of string symphonies comprises more substantial compositions. This features no. 7 in D minor, no. 9 in C major, and no. 12 in G minor. There are several ways through these three symphonies when we hear Mendelssohn's ingenuity break fresh ground. The Bolzano String Academy was established in 1987 by the South Tyrolean Music Association under the artistic direction of Georg Egger. The string orchestra consists mainly of South Tyrolean musicians who have gained a wealth of experience in prominent chamber ensembles and orchestras at national and international level and pass on their experience in joint projects with budding young artists. The String Academy usually performs without a conductor. Some of the String Academy's members also play in the Klassische Philharmonie Stuttgart, and this connection has led to collaboration with the conductor Frieder Bernius. Album Tracks 1. Sinfonie VII in D-Moll MWV N 7 2. Sinfonie IX in C-Dur MWV N 9 3. Sinfonie XII in G-Moll MWV N 12

Various Artists - Stille Nacht - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Rossini Hayward, one of the most creative guitarists of his generation, has written a sequence of Christmas carol arrangements that range across the centuries and over continents. These beautiful pieces respect the original carols while bringing to them ingenious new features. Seven of the arrangements involve overdubbing by Hayward himself with voice, percussive effects or guitar, adding new colors, but showing that he always 'understands the charm and power of simplicity' (Classical Guitar).
