Volcano! - Beautiful Seizure - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2012 from the Chicago trio, the long-awaited follow-up to the trio's celebrated 2008 album Paperwork. Piñata is the sound of volcano! Past distilled into a most potent formula for the present unsparingly concise, stickily melodic, lyrically stranger, darkly humorous, ferociously driven, fabulously inventive. Clocking in at just over 40 minutes, the album has an aggressive energy that's as exciting as it is unpredictable. It's leaner and meaner than it's predecessors, with the themes behind the songs drawn from more familiar sources. Lead single 'Piñata' is a petty vision of posthumous karmic retribution, while 'Fighter,' the album's dramatic centerpiece, is a violent revenge fantasy set to music. But while the songs can be complex conceptually, the incisive compositions ensure they effortlessly get under your skin.

Limited cream colored vinyl LP pressing. 2024 . The music on Deeper Well, the seven-time Grammy winner's fifth album, is almost chimeric. On the bright, almost folky title track, the 30-something songstress surveys her life and priorities, recognizing what feeds her, drains her and even examines the childhood she's left behind on her way to now. Saturn returns, cardinals embody a dead friend, love is given and taken, streets rush by, belongings are packed and old chapters deserted, new love blooms, jade bracelets serve as talismans, deep lessons emerge, small details define everything, the woods are a refuge and New York City serves as the same gleaming beacon as Oz. Pressed on 180-gram transparent cream vinyl. With KM + Boy Smells InchDeeper WellInch scented sleeves.
