I bought this to replace a Wind Machine which was just as good at half the price, but it only lasted 3 years. The Vornado is well built, has a solid stand, a bit smaller foot print than other box fans, plus a 5 year warranty which is why I decided to purchase it. I like the sleek design but it seems a bit expensive, but if it lasts 5 years it will be worth the higher price. Lastly it is comparitively quiet.

Amazing Fan. Blows very cold and expands across many rooms in an open area. I did not need to use it as a window fan and that was the best thing. The back doesn't get hot, so its just constant cool air coming out of it. It blows very far in a straight line, though cooling down the room was actually by pointing the fan to a corner in the room. I started off at 70 speed and never had to increase it.
