About this product
W. H. Lungs arrival at their debut album has been less conventional than most. A trait shared with the music they make, which weaves between shimmering synth pop and the infectious grooves of 70s Berlin. The band never had any intention of playing live when forming, aiming instead to be a primarily studio-based project. That approach was challenged when they released their debut 10 ('Inspiration!/Nothing Is') in 2017, which meant that they were quickly in demand. Booking requests started to flood in and W. H. Lung found themselves cutting their teeth on festival stages that summer. Though whilst some new bands may have let that interest change the course of the project, W. H. Lung stayed true to their original reticence and worked mainly as a studio band with their formidable live shows kept sporadic.W. H. Lung have allowed this album to naturally gestate over the course of two years. The result is a remarkably considered debut.

As Night Beats, Texas-born, LA-based artist Danny Lee Blackwell creates music like one might assemble a puzzle. The Western psychedelic auteur builds his work from one moment, an initial spark, that must fit a certain criteria it must give him goosebumps. If that sensation arrives, Blackwell will pursue the idea relentlessly until he has a new song; if not, he moves onto the next moment, constantly looking for the perfect molecule of a song. On his new Night Beats album, Rajan, the songwriter is at his strongest, creating works that shine with captivating melodies and hypnotic rhythms, but are underscored by subtle choices of craftsmanship that can only be achieved after countless hours in the studio. Blackwell creates a work that lands somewhere between Spaghetti Western film score and psych-pop opus, a career-defining album that reveals much about Danny Lee Blackwell's artistic philosophy while keeping that ever crucial air of mystery intact.

Limited clear vinyl LP pressing. Includes . Mancunian synth pop outfit W. H. Lung decided to try something new on their third album Every Inch of Earth Pulsates, in order to capture the energy, spirit and dynamism of their live shows. Something that has become paramount to the group in recent years as they have undeniably blossomed into one of the most joyous and arresting live bands in the country. They relocated to Sheffield to work for the first time with Ross Orton (MIA, Arctic Monkeys, Working Men's Club), who was able to harness this side of the band to remarkable effect. InchRoss is the Sheffield Steve Albini,Inch says singer Joseph Evans. InchHe's the king of not overthinking it and trusting the process of the art of recording songs. He was always there to stop us fucking around with cerebral stuff and get it down. Inch guitarist Tom Sharkett echoes this too InchHe was the exact producer we needed without us even realising. His productions and mixes are bombastic, lively and in your face. He brought a real dose of magic to the songs we'd written. Inch While this album, which follows Incidental Music (2019) and Vanities (2021), is rooted in a sense of capturing a moment and a sparky liveness, that's not to say it's a raw or ragged record. It is still a meticulously composed, delicately layered and pristinely produced piece of work that, in true W. H. Lung style, runs the gauntlet from dance to pop to indie while still capturing that distinctly unique quality that is unquestionably their own. It's a significant leap forward, expanding on their solid foundations while also breaking new ground.

Vinyl LP pressing. It's been over five years since White Lung released any new material. After their explosive break-out album in 2014, Deep Fantasy, and the critically acclaimed follow-up, Paradise, the punk band have taken a long yet unintentional hiatus. Now, singer Mish Barber-Way, guitarist Kenneth William, and drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou are back with Premonition. The band returned to their long-time producer Jesse Gander (Japandroids, Brutus) to bring out the primal and anthemic punk rock the band built their following on. Chaotic, bold, and hook-driven, Premonition is a whirlwind of driving drums, intricate guitar work, and no-holds-barred lyrics about motherhood, pregnancy, and growth.
