About this product
At it's core, Watchhouse (formerly known as Mandolin Orange) is a duo - Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz - from Chapel Hill, NC. Their harmonies are ethereal, their chemistry vibrant, bringing to mind the atmosphere invoked by classic duos such as Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons, or Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. Andrew and Emily provide the foundation of the group's timeless Americana sound, while enlisting a full band to flesh out their dynamics. This Side of Jordan is the group's 3rd full length album and debut on Yep Roc Records. Since signing to the tag and releasing This Side of Jordan in 2013, the band has made quite a bit of noise on the folk/Americana circuit. They've received critical acclaim from NPR Music, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, Garden & Gun, No Depression and more. Their catalog has surpassed over 500 million streams and they've sold out worldwide tours. They have headlined Red Rocks and have graced the stage of the Ryman, Bonnaroo, and Newport Folk Festival.

Limited purple colored vinyl LP pressing. All of these songs are definitely a product of being on the road,Inch says multi-instrumentalist/singer Emily Frantz of the gorgeous Watchhouse (formerly known as Mandolin Orange) album, Such Jubilee, Inchbut they're not about the road.Inch InchThey're about home,Inch explains songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/singer Andrew Marlin. InchNot because we were missing it, but because when you're gone so much, you start realizing what you have and what's waiting for you. You realize there's this place to come back to at the end of the journey, and that's where a lot of these songs come from.Inch Such Jubilee is a record about home, both the place and the idea. Some days it's a safe, warm, loving refuge from the world outside. Other days it's cold and empty and too quiet. Either way, it's always waiting for you at the end of the road.

Lean in to the Watchhouse (formerly known as Mandolin Orange) album, Blindfaller, and it's bound to happen. You'll suddenly pick up on the power and devastation lurking in it's quietude, the doom hiding beneath it's unvarnished beauty. You'll hear the way it magnifies the intimacy at the heart of the North Carolina duo's music, as if they created their own musical language as they recorded it. InchWe talked about the feel of each song and pointed out loosely who was going to be taking solos, but it was mostly a lot of fresh takes, a lot of eye contact, and a lot of nods and weird winks,Inch says Andrew Marlin, who anchors the band with fellow multi-instrumentalist and singer Emily Frantz. As the duo's songwriter, Marlin sharpens his lyrical prowess here, touching on broad themes of growing older and feeling helpless in a world torn by injustice. Sure, the album sounds classic, but it is rooted in the here and now of our daily headlines.

Watchhouse took the Austin City Limits Live stage at The Moody Theater in Austin, TX on January 23, 2020 in support of their then latest album - Tides of a Teardrop. Throughout the night, they played fan favorites from InchBlindfallerInch, InchSuch JubileeInch and InchThis Side of JordanInch and debuted a new instrumental track - InchHawk Is A Mule.Inch
