Webb,Roger & His Trio - JOHN, PAUL and all that JAZZ: Beatles Songs by ROGER WEBB and TRIO - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Iyeoka - Say Yes (R)evolved [VINYL LP] date 09/06/2024

Richard Peterson is on a roll. In 2023, he gave us his legendary Christmas album! Now it is Topper-most of the Popper-most time. Fourteen glorious Beatle's songs given the classic RP treatment (think InchSea HuntInch soundtrack and elevator music!). Piano, drums, brass, occasional vocals - who needs more! Songs range from the innocence of InchI Want To Hold Your HandInch to the orchestral excess of InchA Day In The Life.Inch This mop-top lovefest is the perfect music for every social occasion. And yes, Richard flew all the way to Liverpool, England to shoot the cover photo!

Jazz artists from Louis Armstrong, Coleman Hawkins, Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, Ahmad Jamal, Miles, even Coltrane all relied on Tin Pan Alley, Broadway and the then current pop tunes as a basis for much of their most enduring recordings. To hear such respected jazz artists as those presented here re-casting songs written by the Fab Four, is evidence, if any is needed, that as popular composers, Lennon, McCartney and Harrison can probably be considered as leading voices in the New Pop Standard repertoire.
