Weekend - Red - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2010 from the Alt/Noise rockers. Combining noisy guitars, pounding rhythms and dark Post-Punk vibes in fresh ways isn't easy, but Weekend somehow does it effortlessly. Sports is one of the most assured debuts in recent memory, full of rumbling rhythms, layers of loud guitar and most of all great songs that pay special attention to texture and atmosphere while leavening even the most riotous moments with unexpected shards of melody. Album Tracks 1. Coma Summer 2. Youth Haunts 3. Monday Morning 4. Monongah, WV 5. Landscape 6. Age Class 7. Veil 8. End Times 9. Afterimage 10. Untitled

2013 from the Post-Punk trio. The band spent most of 2012 writing, recording, and painstakingly mixing the 10 songs that comprise Jinx with Monte Vallier at Ruminator. During this time, Weekend relocated cross-country to the already heavily saturated Brooklyn music scene. The trio had collectively grown weary of the trappings of home. Durkan states, InchFeeling at home is evidence of stagnation and so I'm happy to say New York still feels alien to me.Inch Despite the drastic change of scenery, he maintains InchGeographically-based music scenes are for the most part defunct due to the internet but I don't think we'll ever be part of any scene. We stand on our own.Inch Album Tracks 1. Mirror 2. July 3. Dubliette 4. Celebration, FL 5. Sirens 6. Adelaide 7. It's Alright 8. Rosaries 9. Scream Queen 10. Just Drive

Pale Sunday is a magnificent new trio from Brazil whose outstanding debut EP is on every hipster's shopping list already. While demonstrating a love for classic acts from the Creation and Sarah rosters, the band manages to sound entirely modern with four of the catchiest songs in a long while. Combining perfectly jangling and sometimes fuzzy guitars with keyboards, strings, sing-along choruses, superb melodies, sha-la-la's and a beefy rhythm track, the songs are top quality A-sides that demonstrate great promise for a superb young act. Fans of the Field Mice, Jesus and Mary Chain, Adorable or the Orchids meet your new favorite band. Album Tracks 1. A Weekend with Jane 2. Go Ahead 3. Today 4. The Girl with Sunny Smile
