Q: how do put fabric softener in this machine ? how would that work
A: Hello Bob, ADDING LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENER If you desire to use liquid fabric softener with this washer, Whirlpool suggests using the Downy Ball® dispenser. Pour a measured amount of liquid fabric softener into the Downy Ball® dispenser, pull the ring tightly to seal it, and place on top of load. Follow manufacturer’s directions for correct amount of fabric softener based on your load size. Then use the Rinse Options button to select Fabric Softener. The Downy Ball® dispenser will automatically release the fabric softener at the correct time in the cycle. For questions on using the Downy Ball® dispenser visit www.downy.com. ADDING LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENER MANUALLY Select the Fabric Softener option on the control panel before starting a cycle. During the final rinse, wait until the washer has completed filling, press the Start/Pause button to pause the washer. Lift the lid and add the recommended amount of liquid fabric softener. Close the lid, press and hold the Start/Pause button to resume the cycle.

this washer is nice in that there in no agitator. roomy enough for a king comforter too.the lid locks and the lid is a bit more flimsy than expected. pretty easy to figure out operation-wise. i had a load of towels that were clean/ well rinsed and pretty dry by the end of the wash cycle. it is more noisy than the old one i had with no lull, like constant noise the entire cycle, but for the price of 599.00 for a reliable brand i will deal with it. install was easy and was happy to pay the additional haul away fee for the 17 year old whirlpool washer i replaced.

My 5-year old Samsung washer had the shock absorbers go bad and the replacement parts, aside from taking months to get, were going to be $400+ to replace. We discussed with our appliance repair person and he suggested if we were to buy a new washer, he would recommend Speed Queen (crazy expensive), Whirlpool, and GE (parts are harder to get and more expensive). He can work on these brands more easily and affordable than LG and Samsung. I chose this model because it is a Whirlpool, top loader, has no agitator, and is on sale making it more budget-friendly. Delivery was quick, on-time, with great guys (thanks Demetrius and Calvin)! I’ve done three loads and here’s what I’ve learned. It is loud. I mean turn up the TV, can’t hear yourself think in the kitchen loud. Certainly louder than my old Samsung. The door lock alone can be enough of a startle and the water filling is very noticeable. There is no drawer for detergent or softener. I use sheet detergent and never use liquid softener so not an issue for me. There is no way to tell where it is in the cycle as there is no visible timer. It vibrates a good deal on spin. ‘Nuff said. The door is such thin sheet metal that it feels a bit flimsy. I’m a bit disappointed that Whirlpool doesn’t do better. The good news is it washes well, spins out plenty of moisture, and I’m keeing it. It had a mark on the front and when the delivery guys reported it, Best Buy immediately called with options. We took a generous partial refund in the form of a gift card. It was a big scrape. All in all it has been a good experience and I’m happy knowing our repair person can easily work on it, if needed.
