Customers praise the 50 Pint Dehumidifier for its quiet operation and effective performance in reducing humidity. They also find it easy to use and appreciate its ability to maintain desired humidity levels. A minor concern raised by some users involves the sturdiness of the water bucket handle. Overall, the positive feedback significantly outweighs the negative comments.

The dehumidifier stopped working with less than a year of use. Precisely 9 months after purchase. While the dehumidifier is under warranty you can expect no help from Best Buy or from the manufacturer. I have wasted countless hours on the phone and via email with them trying to troubleshoot the issue but they ask for pictures every time you do a step which becomes very tiresome. At this point I have a $300+ paperweight. Buyer beware. Also, really disappointed in Best Buy for not helping out in this particular situation when the manufacturer is clearly trying to get away with not replacing or refunding.

This unit is amazing. When I first plugged it in, it was clearing 7 gallons a day, but now it's down to about 3 per day and it keeps my place at around 30-35% humidity (down from 70-80%!!!). I love that it can completely dehumidify a 1200 square foot apartment with ease. It does have a stop valve which turns the machine off when completely full, so you don't have to worry about it leaking. My #1 complaint is it is noisier than I'd hoped. The constant hum is slightly louder than a typical window box air conditioner. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is quiet and 10 is loud, this is probably a 7.5. I position it in the hallway adjacent to my bedroom, bathroom, office and living room, and by doing that, I can sleep at night or work in my office during the day. I think it would be too loud if it was in the same room. I think that, over time, the handle on the bucket may wear out, since it's just plastic. Right now, however, this was exactly what I needed to mitigate a difficult situation (I'm in the process of moving out of a damp and moldy apartment). I hope to move within a month's time, but I would consider buying another Whirlpool in the future without hesitation. I'm going to do some research and see if there are any quieter models on the market.

WEe recently purchased two Whirlpool dehumidifiers to replace three older units that had been recalled due to fire hazards. These two are doing the job of three! The controls are easy to use and allow the operation of the units to be tailored to the environment. Ours is in an unfinished basement, but they are quiet enough to be used in living spaces, contrary to the complaints I've read about other units. One caution - if you shut off the units in order to empty them, wait a couple of minutes for the water to drain into the tank before removing otherwise you will get wet carpeting.
