White Denim - 13 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

White Denim's new album Performance collects nine expertly crafted songs that twist and turn, bending genres in the band s unique style. Students of rock music, White Denim has clearly listened to and learned from the best albums ever made from T. Rex to XTC to Little Feat to Jim O Rourke... but they write songs just dumb enough to drink, dance, and fight to. Rock and roll music that aims for the whole body. Recorded in hometown Austin, Texas in their new Radio Milk studio, Performance displays a band of extraordinary musicians at their creative peak.

Al Perez is a captivating singer/songwriter and soulful performer. His seven-member live band has thrilled audiences for over a decade at festivals, corporate events, and clubs around the USA. Al has also performed with many local bands in Mexico, Jamaica, Bahamas, Costa Rica, and Aruba. Perez performs music which has been described as something for everyone with tones ranging from light rock to R&B - with a singer-songwriter flair and just a touch of Latin for flavoring. Whether Al is playing solo or on a full-band festival, corporate event or club, he performs all the fan favorite covers, as well as his own original music. As The Columbian noted, InchThe soulful sounds from Al's acoustic guitar and his seven-piece band backing him are masterfully woven.Inch Al's prowess as an artist and songwriter caught the attention of Warrior Records' president, Jim Ervin. This led to a recent record and publishing deal for Perez who is also currently putting together a new album for the tag which should be ready for this fall. InchWe're happy be working with Al and look forward to making his newest material available soon,Inch said Ervin. In the meantime, Al's three album back catalog is being released by Warrior both digitally and physically.

White Denim, one of the very best rock bands to emerge this millennium, have gone through rapid changes in the 2020s, and now open an exciting new chapter with the wondrous album, '12', which arrives rich in hot tunes and fresh invention. It's always been hard to keep pace with James Petralli's group, ever since they first exploded out of Austin, Texas in '08 with hyper-kinetic post-punk bangers like Shake Shake Shake and I Start To Run. There was delicious romance in the original trio's MO, as they hatched intrepid sounds together via lengthy jams in a 1940s Spartan trailer parked up in woodland outside the city. James duly raced on through shifting line-ups and kaleidoscopic shades of soul, jazz and Southern rock, always with a feel of in-the-moment authenticity. As for so many musicians, the pandemic forced Petralli into a radical rethink in both life and creative process. Going into White Denim's twelfth long-player, he relocated his family to Los Angeles, and, barred from the usual workouts Inchon the floorInch with his latest group members under COVID, he plunged deep into the science of assembling tracks digitally, with contributions from players he'd sometimes never even meet. The results on '12' are intricate, hi-tech and forward-facing, yet also somehow still of a piece with the questing ambition, rootsy swing and uplifting way with melody we've come to adore about Petralli's music.
