About this product
Five, the 2019 album from White Lies, sees the West-London trio scaling new creative heights with re-energized confidence. As the band explains 'This is a mile stone record for White Lies. It marks our decade as a band, which has pushed us to expand our sound and reach new territory artistically - it marks the start of a new and exciting chapter for us' The writing and recording process took in both sides of the Atlantic including a creative sojourn to Los Angeles where they worked on new material with old acquaintance Ed Buller - producer of two previous White Lies albums including the band's chart-topping debut To Lose My Life and third Big TV. More complex and bolder than it's four predecessors with the addition of personal and-at-times intimate lyrics of bassist and primary songwriter Charles Cave, Five provides a confident stride forward.

The seventh studio album from UK alt-rock trio White Lies sees the band at their most confident and creatively fulfilled. Night Light was written and rehearsed live before hitting the studio, capturing the energy and chemistry that's defined their two-decade career. Determined to flip their usual process, White Lies - Harry McVeigh, Charles Cave, and Jack Lawrence-Brown - entered London's Church Studios to record the album live, inspired by the raw performances of The Midnight Special. The result is a dynamic collection that mixes muscular post-punk, progressive textures, and cinematic balladry, underscoring the trio's evolution while staying true to their anthemic roots. Standout tracks include the driving lead single InchNothing On Me,Inch the synth-disco shimmer of InchI Love(d) New York,Inch the Springsteen-tinged InchEverything Is OK,Inch and the widescreen closer InchIn The Middle.Inch Guest contributions from Black Midi's Seth Evans and production from Riley MacIntyre (Ezra Collective, Arlo Parks) further elevate the record's bold sonic palette. With Night Light, White Lies reaffirm their place as one of the UK's most enduring and adventurous bands - still pushing boundaries, still writing songs meant to be played loud.
