About this product

In contrast to her unique voice, Whitney Ballen's music resembles many things, and covers endless ground. It's sowed with unabashedly honest lyrics that make the Washingtonian's music equal parts visceral, vulnerable, and resilient. The twelve tracks on You're a Shooting Star, I'm a Sinking Ship are set perfectly in Ballen's Pacific Northwest, a place collectively pictured in a romantic mist that blots out it's everyday banalities. Vocally, she shares space with the likes of Mirah, Laura Stevenson, and Jenny O. Falls, Ballen's moody first EP, was recorded in 2014 at an old firehouse, with love letters to Olympia, Rainier, and Snoqualmie Falls. Ballen traded the firehouse for Phil Elverum's church studio for the recording of her second EP, Being Here Is Hard. You're a Shooting Star combines influences from both of Ballen's earlier releases-leaving the magnificent beauty of the Pacific Northwest, then longing for it and the intimate connections made with the people in the rearview.

Florida band celebrates 25th anniversary of their best selling album with expanded edition.Gatefold jacket, 2xLP with UV print on the D side & six bonus tracks Released in 2000, third wave ska band Less than Jake took the bold steps on Borders and Boundaries. With producer Steve Kravac at helm, the album leans into skate-pop punk more than any previous album. A polarizing initially (some critics wrote about wanting more horns and Inchmajor tagInch sellouts). Punk news called the album Inchunderrated.Inch Though Canada's Chart Attack & Germanys' Rock Hard & Ox-Fanzine would disagree. As would UK's Downed in Sound giving the album a perfect 10/10 and writing Inchevery song is so darn catchyInch 25 years later, Borders and Boundaries is now is the band's best selling and most popular . The 25th Anniversary edition includes five previously unreleased demos and new mix of InchIs this Thing on?Inch Also available, Borders and Boundaries CD/DVD [751097079324] featuring Less than Jake live in Orlando filmed in 2007.
