Whitney - Light Upon The Lake: Demo Recordings - VINYL LP

Light Upon The Lake - Ascendant Chicago band Whitney have announced their debut album, Light Upon the Lake, due out June 3rd on Secretly Canadian. This follows on the heels of recent inescapable single No Woman and a much talked about SXSW trip. Light Upon The Lake marks the culmination of a short, but incredibly intense, creative period for the band. To say that Whitney is more than the sum of it's parts would be a criminal understatement. Formed from the core of guitarist Max Kakacek (ex-Smith Westerns) and singing drummer Julien Ehrlich (ex-Unknown Mortal Orchestra), the band itself is something bigger, something visionary, something neither of them could have accomplished alone. Album Tracks 1. No Woman 2. The Falls 3. Golden Days 4. Dave's Song 5. Light Upon the Lake 1. No Matter Where We Go 2. On My Own 3. Red Moon 4. Polly 5. Follow

Limited 180gm clear colored vinyl LP pressing. Every Country's Sun takes two decades of Mogwai's signature, contrasting sounds - towering intensity, pastoral introspection, synth-rock minimalism, DNA-detonating volume - and distills it, beautifully, into 56 concise minutes of gracious elegance, hymnal trance-rock, and transcendental euphoria. Produced by psych-rock luminary Dave Fridmann, it's a structural soundscape built from stark foundations up; from a gentle, twinkling, synth-rock spectre to a solid, blown-out, skyward-thrusting obelisk. This is music as a keep-out chrysalis, protective audio armor through exalting organs and portentous, dissonant guitar fuzz warping at the edges, bending the world inside-out into a reality in which you'd much rather live. The last three songs ascend into explosive exorcism, closing with the colossal title cut InchEvery Country's Sun,Inch it's searching intensity whooshing towards infinity in a dazzling cosmic crescendo. Album Tracks 1. Coolverine 2. Party in the Dark 3. Brain Sweeties 4. Crossing the Road Material 5. Aka 47 6. 20 Size 7. 1000 Foot Face 8. Don't Believe the Fife 9. Battered at the Scramble 10.
