I did about a weeks worth of researching (couple hours per day) making sure i was getting what was best suited for my conditions. The my room is the attic with no insulation and its a fairly large room. I can feel the breeze actually reach me across the room. it cools tge room on hot summer days about 6 degrees per hour and i have no door so i can only imagine alot of cool air goes down my stairs so im working on curtaing off my room, nevertheless it goes from 90 to 84 in an hour and that is possibly understated. since the unit is by the window. im not sure how accuate the thermostat is actually reading but it feels 1000× more bareable after that hour. I shut it off with tge timer set. it had the best energy rating out of my research, you want a dual hose regardless due to its efficiency compared to a single, and it has the highest cooling power rating 14000 btu available for portable ac units. what i found was most products dont label these statistics and i hat to do alot of digging but whynter products list them ALL so it seems they had the most confidence in there product over others. I'll be doing a Review Soon At ( youtube.com/superandrered.com ). Best Buy Also had it listed as the cheapest price of all retailers online (again i did my digging). thanks best buy for that. I went with the ac only unit because my logic suggested a ac/heater unit might have more flaws with the system and a higher chance of malfunction. On Top of All That.. It has in my opinion the sleekest design of them all. Easy to use & works great. i also watched alot of ac unit video reviews and top 5 lists and whynter was always a) in the list and b) near or at the top spot. thats my take on the product hope it helps. I got this one in exchange for the Honeywell - 450 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner - Blue/White which stayed above 80 degrees all throughout the 90 and above summer. The single hose I discovered created a vacuum in the room which did not allow air to circulate therefore trapping heat rather than letting it go. Its why i went back to best buy and exchanged for the only dual exhaust best buy had. So far it cools my room down to the 60s and no more stale vacuum air as i had with the single hose which by they, created such a vacuum in my room i could not open my door! I like that it solved two of my problems but gained one in the process,....loudness! The compressor and fan are so loud I've had to raise the volume of my tv from a comfortable listening volume of 10 to now 30 in order to hear it. Not good for late night tv in bed while the misses is trying to get her sleep. I had a whynter before which is why i chose this. Even that one was loud but not like this! This is like industrial loud. To loud for a home! Would like to return or exchange for a less noisy one but this is Best Buys only dual exhaust with 14,000 btu. Honeywell's 14000 was a lot quieter but didn't deliver on its promise. If they had a dual exhaust at 14000 btu I'd give it a try over this whynter. Its quite annoying! Best Buy needs to stock more dual hose 14000 btu options for the consumer to choose from. All the single hoses they carry are going to give you the same subpar results i had. I'd stay away from them for now on and stick with dual no less than 14000 btu which is as high you're ever going to get from a portable unfortunately!

Used this in my garage at the end of summer and it chilled down a 24x30 attached garage pretty quick. Set it at 72 and that is what it brought it down to According to the thermometer on the wall. We will see in Mid August next year when it hits 95 outside. Also the fan speed seems a bit slow even on high but other than that not bad.

I really like my portable air conditioner. Cools down the room very quickly. Easy to put together. Only negative is that it isn't very quiet. I would equate the noise it generates to a fan on "High".

Bought to cool bedroom while AC unit in apartment was broken. Worked well to cool the room. Only downside was that it was fairly loud, but this is the only one of these I have ever owned, so this may be standard.

I had been using a single hose unit to cool a 150 sq ft bedroom, and that unit struggled to get room cool. On recent hot days, (above 90 degree) the single hose unit would not cool below 85. Since buying this unit, the cooling is incredible. Days with 90 and above,(outside) this unit takes around 1 hour to get the same room from 85 to 75. If left running, (full fan speed, temp set to 63) the same room will get down to 65 in approximately 3 hours! (I also have a small fan blower set up behind the AC unit to improve the air flow, I also have wrapped both hoses with towels to reduce the heat back into the room)I have not seen my electric bill yet to make comparison, but this unit doesn’t seem to struggle or run to get the job done. Well worth the purchase for comfort.

Overall this is a pretty good unit as far as portables go. Keep in mind that the engineering of portables limits their cooling capabilities compared to a window unit. After careful research we decided on this unit based on various sources and reviews. I believe as do many professionals that a dual hose unit such as this is more efficient. Also consider adding duct insulation to the exhaust hose. The exhaust produces a good amount of heat and even though it is pushing the air out the window the constant heat radiating tom the hose only adds heat to the room. I measured a 2 degree difference when I installed the insulation. On a 90 plus degree day this makes a difference. Be careful when you remove the unit from the box. The first unit I received had grease/oil on the casters which went on my carpet before I noticed. There was some other cosmetic issues with the unit which leads me to believe the unit was dropped somewhere in transit and the compressor leaked. This unit was returned and the second unit was perfect. Just a little warning

Very quiet unit at 14K BTU. Cools the living room nicely and the fan is pretty great too. Will be getting another for the bedroom! The dual hose is far better that the single hose. Far Better!

This unit works great cooling my server room. Please note that the flex hoses that are included need to be insulation or you are just emitting heat back into the room.

Easy to assemble. Easy to operate. Powerful enough to cool off a room the size of a bachelor's apartment. Just recently started using it. Perfect timing since heatwave started here.

I have about three weeks with it now and must say since the first thing I started it up within minuets it was great. At first we had it in the living room but then moved it to the bedroom and it crushed. Our room has just become a fridge, it's so cold now we just use it for two hours while running a tower fan and turn it off. We let the tower fan do the rest of the work for a few hours and we usually turn it on maybe once more in the late afternoon before sunset. I live in Tijuana Mexico and summers can get really muggy so it's perfect. It's huge though but that made me know this monster was serious business coming out the box.

Only thing we don’t like is it’s a bit noisy. Otherwise it really does the job. Good. Relatively decent price...better at Best Buy than anywhere else.

At first I had to call the company several times. It would not cool. Their staff walked me thru several check lists still did not cool. The vent would not push cool air outwards into the room. After 3 days of messing with it I shut it off. I returned home tried again. It will not cool a 10 by 10 room on 70 degrees!!! In order to even reduce the room temperature you need a ceiling fan to circulate the air. It is extremely overpriced for the results. Don’t understand how they claim to use in a server room! Very disappointed.

I wanted to love this unit. Dual hose 14000 btus. However in a 10x20 room which this is rated for a much bigger space could not keep the room cool enough. The room takes on a good amount of sun throughout the day and can reach up to 100 degrees during the hottest days of the summer. This unit did great during the spring however when it got to 85 degrees outside this unit could not cool the room down past 77 degrees. I can imagine days it would be 90 or above. The unit had to be drained once a week and when it was on the compressor would never turn off. My electric bill went through the roof. This unit might do better in a room that doesn’t get hit by much sunlight but unfortunately it could not hold up on a 85 degree day for its intended purpose. Had no choice but to go back to using a window unit.

I absolutely love this unit! It keeps me perfectly cold at night while I sleep and I'm already noticing a huge decrease in my electricity bill.

Ice cold air, and love the timer feature. Not as loud as other portables I've tried.
