Windsor for the Derby - Emotional Rescue - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

In a world of InchslowInch movements that rail against mindless consumption, rock survivalists Windsor for the Derby represent InchslowInchmusic. New album sees their own left field brand of pop carefully sculpted from a series of loops & drones.

Vinyl LP pressing. Brian Jackson JID008 is the first full album released by the great man in 20 years and it's a testament to his multifaceted talents that while there are moments throughout that hint at his game-changing history and track record, for the most part it reveals a musician whose considerable lessons learned from the past only serve to keep his eyes firmly fixed on the future. It's a masterclass in unbridled and open-minded creativity, no different from what Brian did half a century ago. The ease and comfort with which his ideas integrate with those of musicians a generation younger than him bears this out. To listen to this album is to hear a hot up-and-coming musician who also happens to be a major jazz-funk legend.

First issued in 1980, Emotional Rescue was a transatlantic chart-topper and it's infectious title track made the best-sellers list too. Recorded in Nassau in the Bahamas, in Paris and in New York, and produced by Jagger and Richards under their Glimmer Twins guise, it also contains the classic rocker She's So Cold, which went Top 40 in both the UK and the US, and Dance (Pt 1), another groove-oriented track, which was a club hit in the States. The bittersweet ballad All About You features one of Richards' most affecting vocal performances as well as Bobby Keys' distinctive saxophone. Corriston used a thermo camera to create the album's unusual cover, and drew on the same technique for the Emotional Rescue video.
