Wishy - Paradise - CASSETTES

2024 . DGM is an Italian Progressive Metal band which - with InchEndlessInch - reaches the 12th Album milestone. Not often bands can evolve and present two stunning albums in a relatively short time frame, but this is exactly what DGM have done, offering a new album which is a substantial departure compared to the acclaimed InchLifeInch which was released in late 2023. 'Endless' is a conceptual album that chronicles one man's imaginative journey to understand the choices that shaped his life. Through vivid storytelling, the album explores the eternal question - how might life be different if I had taken another path? Musically the InchEndlessInch offers a different side from the band which exposes a lot of different influences ranging from 70's Progressive Rock (from Kansas, to Yes and Jethro Tull) even with a dash of Italian Progressive Rock (think Banco or PFM). Different instruments such as violins, flutes and sax peep out in the songs but still the band does not lose their contemporary Metal trademark and offers their most mature, relevant and absolutely stunning album ever.

You could call Wishy's story a lucky one. After prior monikers and iterations, Wishy was born as a kaleidoscope of alternative music's semi-recent history, with traces of shoegaze, grunge and power-pop swirling together. On Triple Seven, Indiana songwriters Kevin Krauter and Nina Pitchkites' musical synergy proves itself to be a rare one-the kind that sounds like someone striking gold. Part sly wink and part warm gratitude, it's only fitting their much anticipated full length debut is titled Triple Seven, where Wishy's penchant for indelible hooks is couched equally in pillowy atmospherics and scathing distortion. Growing up in a scene defined by hardcore and emo, Krauter and Pitchkites instead found themselves writing melodies in their heads while driving to work, pulling music from the air and arriving at a blearier, more ethereal interpretation of Midwest expanse. The subject of their songs create a loose web of vignettes and snapshots, capturing Krauter and Pitchkites in a whirlwind couple of years - exiting the pandemic, embarking on an embryonic project, making sense of their musical pasts while forging a musical future alongside one another, each of them on a journey of self-acceptance and self-understanding. Sometimes gorgeous, sometimes festering, and always cathartic, Triple Seven is a vibrant and exhilarating document of self-discovery with the scope and heft of the bygone big-budget rock albums that inspired it.

On the heels of their breakthrough debut album, Wishy returns with a new compilation LP titled Paradise on Planet Popstar. The 11 track LP features their 2023 debut EP Paradise on side A and a brand new, six-song EP titled Planet Popstar on the B side. A dreamy and pop-forward compilation of b-side tracks, the new EP was recorded in the same sessions that birthed Triple Seven, the band's widely acclaimed debut (Inchone of the best indie rock debuts in recent memoryInch says Stereogum). A critical success, Triple Seven recently landed on Inchbest of the yearInch lists from The New York Times, GQ, Alt Press, Paste, Stereogum, Uproxx, NME, and more.Named for the glowing, five pointed star that the iconic bubblegum-pink Nintendo character Kirby hails from, Wishy's latest offering, Planet Popstar, is a bite-sized antidote to the anxiety and precarity of life in the 2020s. A sun-soaked, hazy reflection on the band's central themes-love, life, self-discovery and having fun-it's a compilation of tracks that shows another side of the band's kaleidoscopic sound. Following the enthusiastic reception and critical acclaim of the last year, a buzzy US headline tour, and looking ahead at an already packed-full 2025, the band decided not to leave the remaining songs from the Triple Seven sessions on the cutting room floor.Bolstered by the rare musical synergy between Krauter and Pitchkites, Planet Popstar completes a loose web of vignettes and snapshots capturing them in a whirlwind couple of years - exiting the pandemic, embarking on an embryonic project, making sense of their musical pasts while forging a musical future alongside one another, each of them on a journey of self-acceptance and self-understanding.
