About this product

Statement from the Wold communiqué sent out following the completion of Freermasonry InchLyrically Freermasonry consists of a series of poems and discourses. Early on in Freermasonry during 'SOL,' the Mother allusion is referenced out of Faust Part Two. It's a small portion and short moment. Faust does an invocation to the Mothers, but the execution is as trickery through occult charlatanism and not truly believed ritual. Goethe found passages about dark goddess figures known as Mothers in the writings of Plutarch. The metaphor is ambiguous, generally associated with creative dark force and will, but reared in a potent lie. I use it in correlation with screech owl as atheistic reactionary sentiment. Of course there are many other aspects to Freermasonry.Inch -Fortress Crookedjaw InchThis is all to say that Freermasonry - the obliterative sixth album from Wold, the Saskatchewan act led by the incredibly named Fortress Crookedjaw - is ultimately enigmatic and entirely unknowable, an intersection of noise, metal, and electronics that doesn't yield to such plainclothes criticism. Mean, dense and multivalent, with a lyrical conceit based on Masonic symbolism and Biblical scripture, it's the rare loud music that begs to be louder still if you're to have any chance of understanding it. Freermasonry is a case study in controlling the illusion of chaos, an elegantly constructed nightmare of sound where hearing one layer of serrated screams, static bursts, and feedback flares means you've missed some mass of activity somewhere else. Weirdly seductive rhythms tumble beneath a laundromat of blown-out tones and crackling vocals, generally pulling your attention a dozen different ways. I've been listening to the album consistently for three months now, and somehow, I'm still surprised by what it's 58 minutes sound like and accomplish. Paradoxically disorienting and direct, Freerma

Skaldr - Samsr - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. Skaldr is an American black metal band born in 2017 in Virginia. With Sam?sr?, Skaldr leans into the melodic, cold atmospheres reminiscent of Scandinavia classic black metal sound from the '90s. Drawing inspiration from bands like Dawn, Dissection, and Windir, Skaldr evokes a sound that feels both rooted in tradition and invigorated with fresh energy. Each track builds upon the previous, weaving intricate guitar melodies, relentless percussion, and somber atmospheric elements to create a mournful yet fierce landscape. Skaldr's dual guitars create an interplay of harmony and discord, echoing the album's theme of unity through destruction.

Slagmaur - Hulders Ritual - VINYL LP

With their fourth studio album InchHulders RitualInch ('Ritual of the Huldra'), Slagmaur break the chains of repetition and nostalgia by rewriting the rules of black metal. This does not mean abandoning the foundations of the genre, which is already indicated by working with the 'inventor' of the 'Norwegian black metal sound', THORNS mastermind Snorre W. Ruch, as an additional producer. The band's founder, General Gribbsphiiser, rather unafraid and with reckless abandon mutates and warps the traditional formula through a host of subtle innovations and tweaks of the classic sound. Although InchHulders RitualInch continues, refines, and widens the daring stylistic balance of Slagmaur's previous works, it adds an extra dimension of sardonic mania to it's collection of sharp and vicious sonic instruments. Choice guest-contributions that include TAAKE vocalist Hoest, DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz, and MISTHYRMING frontman D.G., who cover three decades of Nordic black metal make a case in point. Slagmaur hail from Brekstad on the Fosen peninsula in the Trondelag region and are a part of the Trondheim-based 'Nidrosian black metal movement'. Although Gribbsphiiser started the band as a solo project, he already recruited fellow musicians during the recording of his first demo, InchSvinInch (2006). Slagmaur's black avant-garde debut album, InchSkrekk Lich KunstlerInch (2007), marked the premier instalment in the still-unfolding series, InchThe Art of OldermanInch. The following studio albums InchVon Rov ShelterInch (2009) and InchThill Smitts TerrorInch (2017) continued this story arc. InchHulders RitualInch is for those, who are seeking musical darkness, magic, and the relentless breaking of limitations from black metal. Slagmaur push forward among the select few that are leading the way to the future of the genre.
