Wolfgang Roth learned these early German songs during the 1920s while participating in a German Youth movement which Inchchampioned ideas of brotherhood and peace.Inch These are protest songs from the Peasant Wars of the 16th century that have been preserved orally for centuries and continue to live on through Roth's interpretation in this two volume-collection of Early German Ballads .
