Haydn is generally seen as one of the main originators of the InchViennese soundInch, the inimitable style of playing which is still very much alive today and is particularly cultivated by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. This orchestra has Haydn's music in it's blood, and it's interpretation of his symphonies demonstrates a supreme confidence, musical sophistication and lightness of touch. As a noted American music critic remarked following a performance of the Oxford Symphony conducted by Leonard Bernstein InchLet's have no further argument the Vienna Philharmonic is the world's greatest orchestra. Bernstein's interpretations of the symphonies have consistently met with unreserved critical acclaim. He, of all conductors, possessed precisely the qualities which Haydn's music requires grace, charm and a generous measure of wit.Inch The present recording was recorded at Grosser Musikvereinssaal Wien in 1984 and 1985. This is truly documentation of a master at work.

Star conductor Christian Thielemann and the Staatskapelle Dresden present a brand new recording of all four symphonies of Robert Schumann, who lived in Dresden from 1844 to 1850 and wrote his second symphony there. His symphonies are considered masterpieces amongst German romantic symphonic works. This cycle, which was recorded live at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, receiving great critical acclaim, is a new milestone in Schumann interpretation. InchThe Staatskapelle's sumptuous playing is hard to fault...Inch (The Guardian) A bonus on this is InchDiscovering Schumann,Inch which features Christian Thielemann talking about Schumann´s Symphonies and his interpretations.
