If you are into good old fashioned racing and crashing, this game is for you. Physics are great, crashes are real, and online multiplayer is addicting! Love the graphics, it's been a long time since i've had this much fun playing a video game. I 100% recommend buying this game. It will not disappoint.

Short and simple: Wreckfest is a racing/demolition derby game. You can race and wreck over 20 cars once you unlock levels based on skill levels. All the cars look like real cars from the 60s, 70s and 80s even though the names have been changed and there are no emblems to distinguish the real cars. The physics of the crashes seem mostly real based on impacts that occur. Here's the fun part. Back in 1995 on the PlayStation 1, there was the original racing/demolition derby game called Destruction Derby. It's basically the same game with better graphics and online connections to play with other people around the world. The developers are still planning on releasing monthly updates to improve the game. As of this review, you can't talk to people online through your headsets, but it's coming. There will also be private lobbies to race/crash with your friends. The game is easy to play and it's fun. I don't see myself getting bored with this game anytime soon.

This is the most fun I’ve had with a “racer” in years. Diverse and an absolute blast. Only two things I have an issue with, but I can totally deal with: Load times and the menu interface.

While my purchase date is just 2 weeks old, I should also mention I have owned Wreckfest for some time on PC, as well, when it was made available in its Beta form. And yes, it's THAT good that I chose to purchase it again, so I have access to play if my son is on one system and I have the urge to "get wrecked". It's a bit difficult to give a quick summation of Wreckfest- there'a multiple ways to play, with different race types. From regular races, to "banger" races where causing damage runs alongside finishing, to multiple heat events, to straight-up demolition derbies, to outrageous and crazy special events (racing on motorized couches, or using a school bus to destroy a set number of 3-wheeled supervans before they finish a race, among many, many others,) as well as the ability to create your own events, setting the parameters for track, vehicle types, and race types, Wreckfest is guaranteed to have something for every racing fan while offering enough "new" and variety to keep the attention of those same racing veterans. Add in the delivery of the title in the wrecking portion of the game- vehicles break apart and deform in a way that's rarely, if ever, been seen before in a game (often hilariously so,) and your vehicle of choice just isn't going to look the same at the end of a race as it did at the beginning. There's more! While the vehiclea aren't licensed, you'll recognize many as homages to modern and classics, but it's the truly unique vehicles that will have you racing through to unlock them and get them added to your garage. Couches with engines, Riding Lawn Mowers, Limos, Combine Harvesters, School Buses, Big Rigs and others (and more on the way!) Are all great fun to drive and smash. Tracks offer a great variety among the 2 dozen, many with route variation, different mixes of asphalt and gravel, and, like the events themselves, often with some shenanigans thrown in- figure eights that demand situational awareness, full gravity-defying loops, and demolition bowls with walls to ride all make appearances. While not as big in car customization, there's enough there to lose some time making each ride your own. More important than the semi-limited paint & design customization is the tuning, which for a majority of racing fans, should feel just about perfect. Default settings are easily adaptable, but there's a handful of options to make you feel in control of your own destiny- shifting, brakes, differential, etc. Generally, just tuning for the track itself, one notch up or down to adjust for gravel or asphalt surfaces will be enough. For those of us that have fond memories of the old Psygnosis series of Destruction Derby games, Wreckfest feels like a long awaited sequel, one that's taken since the original Playstation to arrive. It's shown up and delivered in a big way by Bugbear, and it shouldn't be missed by anyone, from the casual racing fan to the most die-hard, because it's one of those rare games that goes beyond the genre it belongs in and elevates to "just great fun," and something any and all should enjoy. While nothing has released yet from the Deluxe Edition's included season pass, which will issue over 8 packs, it was a great deal, considering it was included with the game at a retail price equal to most game's regular day one price. Among what to expect, according to the code, are 20 new cars, 20 new roof decorations, new armor, rims, and customization options. Great bargain, but am disappointed to not read "more tracks" on that list. Hopefully, that will change. While Wreckfest isn't lacking in quality or quantity in that department, the bigger the variety is always better! Now, no game is ever perfect, and Wreckfest is no exception, although its faults are difficult to find with one exception: load times. Load times here often fall between, "horrible" and "infuriating," which is a shame with just how great Wreckfest is in every other aspect. Hopefully, updates will continue to address these lengthy interludes, always highlighted in racing games, due to the faster nature of a contest within them, a stark contrast between gameplay and load time, and lower the time spent waiting, rather than playing. Overall, Wreckfest isn't just possibly the best racer of 2019, it's one of the best, and most fun, GAMES of 2019.

The game is fun for the lawnmower and demolition races, but the regular races are tough. Also, the load times are horrible. But overall a fun game .
