East Coast minimal wave institution Xeno & Oaklander's seventh full-length further distills their iconic noir synth pop into a streamlined suite of gleaming, graceful retrofuturism. Inspired by ideas of synesthesia, scent, star worship, and obsolescent technologies, the duo of Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride began conceiving the blueprint of Vi/deo while sequestered at their Southern Connecticut home studio during the pandemic. The context of isolation, streaming, and remote dreaming seeped into their chemistry, manifesting as both homage to and meditation on a certain cinematic strain of technicolor fantasy the screen as stage, distance disguised as intimacy, where tragedy and glamor crossfade into one.Opening with the precision synthetic melancholy of InchInfinite Sadness,Inch the album marks a peak fluidity between the pair's fusion of analog electronics and poetic melody, both refined and oblique, classic but contemporary. In 1942, The US Pentecostal Church Development Department made a robot preacher to replace human preachers who were abroad in the war. All was going well until it's program was bought out by a pharmaceutical company through regular software updates. They started to add sales pitches to it's speech program. After the war, the human preachers returned and the 'Litronix' program was closed down In late 1945. The 'Litronix' was driven out to the Nevada desert and buried in an unknown location.Fast forward 80 years, whilst digging the new foundations of a hotel, the 'Litronix' was discovered still awake and fully functioning. On it's awakening, the 'Litronix' started to walk in the direction of Los Angeles.Over the past few years, living in LA, it's religious and pharmaceutical programs have evolved into a more spiritual and holistic approach. It's external hard drive has downloaded more than 4500 documents on the subject of hypnosis. Government agencies and many new American business oligarchs have approached the 'Litronix' with job offers. The 'Litronix' refused. The 'Litronix' model also started to record jingles and songs on it's internal recording system. This album 'One a Day Keeps The Doctor Away' is an edited version of the 200 hours of recorded material. LA's Litronix announces his debut album 'One a Day Keeps The Doctor Away', set for on 25th April by Invada Records. Eight new songs of sparkling electronics from duo Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride (Martial Canterel) blur the lines between 60's French Pop, 80's wave and contemporary modular synth pop. Romantic and mythic, a dreamlike journey through dense harmonies and complex polyphonic compositions... As a musical act, Xeno & Oaklander conflate a rich love of analog synths, melody, and mythology with eloquent nuance and a nod to the heritage they draw from. While that construct is the duo's immediate kiss and crush, there's a deeper importance to their collaboration which began in 2004. As evidenced in their debut Vigils (2004), McBride and Wendelbo's artistic dynamic is more than just a mutual love for electronics but a contrast between architectural precision and painterly expression. From the film scores to the traditional albums they've recorded in their Brooklyn studio, they've both spurred and fostered the global synth wave revival through a commitment to analog-only production and performance as well as a strident respect for the medium.
