This video game is the upgraded version of the Wii U title of the same name. It has an amazing story and gameplay. The controls and graphics are great and I can't wait for a direct sequel to this game.

This game has a truly massive open world (150 square miles, ten times the size of Skyrim). The story is not the fantastical hero's journey you might expect from an RPG, but there is a big cast of colorful characters and fun dialog. The combat is sort of like an MMO, with melee and ranged auto-attacks to choose from, and a set of skills on cooldown timers. Combat can seem a little obtuse at first but is fairly engaging and rewarding as you get better at it. The real pull of this game is in the sense of constant progression, and the satisfaction of exploring this huge world. Several chapters in, you get access to a mech (giant robot) that is a complete game-changer for traversal and battle. Overall this is a very fun sci-fi romp that you can easily sink 100+ hours into.

What I like: Graphics (pretty good WiiU remaster) Character customization Story Extra content Switch 2 upgrade option Portable unlike the WiiU Price I got it for ($40) Some cool outfits to choose, just some though Reminds me of Mass Effect & Final Fantasy XIII Exploration The mechs Dislike: Lack of custom button configuration User interface with outfits and weapons Overwhelming information regarding tips and tutorials. Grinding for exp Takes a long time to get mech Switch 2 upgrade for this game could be better

The world of Xenoblade Chronicles X is a vast land full of danger and wonder in which you set out to ensure humanity's future. The exploration, customization, soundtrack, sidequests, and combat are all top notch. This rerelease also includes extra content that expands on the story and characters of the original to create a more memorable experience.

Game is massive. The world is vast and has a ton of content. Im only 16 hours in and barely scratched the surface of what this game has to offer. It looks incredible on Switch. Very impressive game. Highly recommend if you want a fun sci-fi JRPG adventure. This game has hours upon hours of content.

Fixes every issue the original Wii U version had and added much more to it. A massive world to explore, much needed Quality of Life improvements, and plenty of new content. A must have for any fan of the Xenoblade series and highly recommended to anyone who loves RPGs or Open World exploration.

I never got to play the original game on Wii U, but I enjoyed every second of experiencing this game + the new content in the epilogue. The new characters feel naturally added too and not forced in for new content. One minor complaint I have is that some VAs didn't return for the English dub (specifically Vandahm's) and its very off putting to hear such a different voice coming from him in the new content.

I have only played about 4 hours yet. So this isn't a complete review in a way at this point. The story is pre-dating the time from the previous Xenoblade Chronicle ones, and that way it explains the beginning of the series. The graphics are - as with the other Xeboblade games looking great, and the story is so far nice. Interesting to see how this continues! The control in a fight is similar to the other games, as well as the highlighting of the characters in the game with levels. One thing which I like is that in case you didn't get to the next story point and you die, your character goes back to the recent check point, however - you apparently do not have to re-do all the things you have done to that point.

Absolutely phenomenal game. I got this for my friend and a Nintendo switch online card. We did a ton of online missions together and I shared my character with him and helped boost him up. The game itself has a very strong story and is open world. A lot of it is told in side content so if you only do the main story it will feel different. The game also gates the overdrive mechanic fr 1/4th of the way through the game, the skells(mechs) until about halfway through the game, and then adds flying about 3/4ths of the way through. All of these radically change the game feel. I could go on forever but the game is complex, rewarding, and has elements of incremental progression games.

Great game!!! Don't expect a heavily story driven game like the other Xenoblade games. That being said, the exploration, world building and combat is some of the best in the series.

I'm going to keep this short. This is a one of a kind open world JRPG that originally came out 10 years ago on the Wii U. After so many years, it still has one of the most breath taking open worlds to date, and we're finally able to experience it with updated visuals. The rerelease also comes with a number of welcome quality of life changes that tone down the level grind and gear crafting. Unfortunately, the new epilogue that was added wasn't that great. Hard to talk about it without spoiling anything. Just know that it won't answer every little mystery that was setup from the original story. A good chunk of it also felt like one big low budget filler episode in an anime show. 10 years and this is all they could muster up? Yea, I was pretty disappointed to be honest. Nonetheless, there's still a lot to love about this game. Like, did I mention there's giant mechs in this game? Buy this now if that's your thing.

Features a Stand alone story. A good place to start playing the Xeno games from Monolith. Same basic team that made games from all the way back to Final Fantasy 3(6), to Xenogears, Xenosaga, and now Xenoblade. This game features improved graphics, load times, all new content, and improved gameplay that streamlines the experience. The definitive experience easily. This game shows what a good development team with experience in their craft as well as together as a team can do. A top notch game in every way. Be aware that the mechs in the game you see arent going to be free to use for a while. thats pretty typical of RPGs though.

The graphics are by far the best you will see on the Switch. It is truly mindblowing how all this is processed by that tiny little tablet. Incredibly beautiful vistas where you can literally see miles and miles into the distance and sometimes some truly frantic action on screen. All this at a steady frame rate without skipping a beat. The story is also top-notch, with tons of dialogue, some laugh out loud moments, and memorable characters. Best of all is the gameplay. It is just solid, and as I said before, it asks a bit of commitment. It keeps on rewarding with new gameplay elements.

Xenoblade X is a game I’ve been wanting to play for a while, and with the Definitive Edition coming out on Switch recently I’m finally getting a chance to. So far (around 15-20 hours in) the game hasn’t “hooked” me the same way that Xenoblade 1, 2, and 3 did, but the gameplay is more interesting than 1’s. The world of Mira is very pretty to look at and once I’ve got a Skell I’m sure it will be even more fun to explore. Reviewing this based on my pre-order experience is also 5 Stars, though I did do in-store pickup so there was less chance of something somewhere being messed up.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is one of the best modern displays of an open world. While it's story is often lacking, it more than makes up for it with fairly good side quests, and exploration nearly unparalleled. The combat is intricate having many options to choose from in terms of play style. You can make every weapon type in the game work solidly if you know what you're doing. And there is plenty of build opportunities to explore among the 12 base weapons types as well as the secret 13th. Ultimately I've put in well over 100 hours into Xenoblade X Definitive Edition. And while I personally would call it the weakest in the series, being the weakest game in one of the best game series out there is by no means an insult. If exploration and side content are your thing, Mira is 100% the place to go. With 5 very expansive continents hosting hundreds of quests and interesting things to find, you'll have no shortage of adventure. Add to that the brilliant Skell system and eventual flight, and you get my personal favorite open world exploration experience. I would 100% recommend this game to lovers of adventure and side content. If story is more your thing, I'd still say give this game a shot. But you can not ignore the side content. It's what really adds weight and connection to the characters that adds any real impact to the plot. If you don't feel like doing that. I'd advise you check out one of the other Xenoblade games! As they all have rich stories with messages that can truly change you if you're open to it. Overall, for me personally Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is a 5/5! And I would very much recommend it.

This is my favorite Xenoblade Chronicles game that I originally played on Wii U, the definitive edition adds a final chapter to the story along with some new characters, gear & skells (giant robots, like on the cover art) along with other QoL improvements like being able to easily track needed materials for crafting which was always a pain on the OG version with constantly having to look up online where & how to obtain each material. The only negative part is that some parts of the game require a NSO subscription for the small amounts of online features, but subscribing just for this game isn't really worth it.

This game is a technical marvel. I cannot believe how well it runs and how great it looks on the original Switch. The gameplay and story are engrossing, and there is SO much to do. I am already over 80 hours into my playthrough and I have barely scratched the surface of all this masterpiece has to offer. If you're already a fan of the series or are looking to jump in, this is a great place to start. Do not miss this one!

This game is a must have for anyone thats a fan of Xenoblade or RPG's in general! It has an incredibly diverse and deep combat system with loads of customization from personal abilities to team composition. The story is fantastic, awesome scenery and side stories that genuinley had me smiling. Well worth the time and energy to get through a pretty lengthy RPG, plus it has giant robots.
