Youth Valley - Lullabies For Adults - VINYL LP

Jake Waitzman has spent the majority of his career behind a drum kit, pounding the skins for a family of local acts like Vulture Whale, The Wes McDonald Plan and Ham Bagby, laying down thick rock grooves while intentionally staying out of the spotlight. An engine and agent of propulsive forward motion, it's been the place he's most comfortable, yet for the past four years he's been quietly plotting a new role for himself as an indie rock/power pop impresario under the nom de plume Jaco, exploring a radically different side of his creative vision that may surprise old school Vulture Whale fans.

Limited edition orange colored vinyl LP pressing Melkbelly, formed by vets of Chicago's experimental and DIY scene champions, organized noise and thoughtful freneticism on it's debut full-length, Nothing Valley, fusing dreamy vocal lines and cantankerous guitar racket. It's songs clang and bang in stripped-down production that highlights the band's sharp edges; multi-faceted slabs of sound serve harmonious, immediate songs. So it shouldn't be a surprise that the band members' tastes run obscure-The Hecks, Lightning Bolt, and jazz drummer Paal Nilssen-Love and, as they tell us, Inchbands and musicians that draw on a sense of adventure.Inch The quartet's membership overlaps with several Chicago noise and experimental bands and art collectives. Nothing Valley was recorded in early 2016 in Vettraino's basement studio to 8-track analog tape. Fresh off a West Coast tour, the band let the hours on the road and missed art tourism opportunities at Spiral Jetty shape the songs as well as the recording process itself, writing half the album material in the studio. Nothing Valley breezes gust fresh and forcefully.

File under UK, indie, DIY punk, Noise-pop. Combining elements of indie-pop, punk, emo and just a little bit of 2009 vintage math-rock for good measure, adults are four pals trying to find their way in a disintegrating world. For everything, always reflects on how we look after ourselves, one another and people in our community; it's a riotous collision reminiscent of Johnny Foreigner, The Beths or Trust Fund, bursting with crunching guitars, speedy drums and yelping dual vocals. Recorded and produced by Rich Mandell (Happy Accidents, ME REX) over a couple of weekends in the summer of 2021, for everything, always is the constantly naive, but optimistic, outlook always striving for a better future in the face of modern societyA1) I Had A Little Snooze & Now I Will Probably Never Arrive At Yr House A2) Janine (JG Forever) A3) All We've Got // All We Need A4) Tfl Has A Lot To Answer For A5) 2 Sqs A6) The Secret Song To End Side One B1) Things We Achieve B2) The Nod B3) The Pitch And Yaw Of The 6.12 To Brighton (Plain Wrong) B4) Between Buildings B5) Killing & Dying & Something More Positive B6) The High Watermark (Thoughts Of U) B7) Wasn't Like That
