Yume Tomita - Around The World In 80 Minutes - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Following the success of her Inchhead-turning debutInch with Orchid Classics in 2022, dynamic young violinist Coco Tomita returns with her new album InchEchoesInch, reuniting with pianist Simon Callaghan in a reflective and intimate exploration of late 19th and 20th century repertoire. Coco first gained widespread recognition as winner of the 2020 BBC Young Musician Strings Category, an event which led to the recording of her debut album, InchOriginsInch, which garnered huge critical acclaim and was selected as one of Apple Music's Albums of the Month. She was named as 'One to watch' by Gramophone Magazine and 'Young Classical Star' by Classic FM, while elsewhere her rendition of Irving Berlin's InchWhite ChristmasInch rapidly amassed over 2 million streams as part of Apple Music's Classical Christmas campaign in December 2022.With works from Ligeti, Janacek, Prokofiev and Debussy, this new from Coco Tomita and Simon Callaghan exhibits the range and depth the duo are increasingly recognised for, while Tomita's revisiting of the music of Georges Enescu, and a duet of the traditional Irish song InchDanny BoyInch with younger sister Yume, round off a comprehensive and multifaceted collection.

Today there are works from Telemann's pen still completely new to today's musical world - indeed, the InchMusical GeographyInch introduced here is a rarity hardly known even to experts. The 38 movements of this work are taken from Telemann's orchestral suites. The musicologist Adolf Hoffmann assembled them in 1959, modeled on Telemann's InchSinging GeographyInch, as a series of contrasting, mostly dancelike movements, combining to create a new overall form.In addition, Daniela Dolci and her ensemble Musica Fiorita interpret Telemann's Concerto in d for two violins, viola and basso continuo. For 15 years, yMusic has developed a reputation as in-demand collaborators with artists ranging from Paul Simon to Caroline Shaw. Now, the genre-fluid chamber group has stepped out as creators in their own right with a self-composed album. The widely influential ensemble has crafted 9 engaging pieces, creating a textured instrumental album that is a vehicle for their renowned virtuosity as well as their exquisite taste.yMusic has always been innovative - their eye-popping list of collaborators speaks for itself. And yet, this new self-titled album, YMUSIC, is the first time they have braved the spotlight alone, with no composer, no songwriter, no external creative support. InchThe urge to write came after spending a significant amount of time on tour performing 'off the page' - memorizing, re-writing, and sometimes creating arrangements on-the-fly,Inch says yMusic violinist Rob Moose.InchDuring these concert tours, we started working out little ideas together backstage, right before concerts, or in an idle moment of rehearsal. We immediately realized this group was meant to work this way! As six finely-tuned and opinionated musicians, we have literally been training for this our whole lives.InchThere is a lot to appreciate on YMUSIC - from the wild intensity of Flood to the noir introspection of Peter Inn, the band's atmospheric vignettes transport the listener. Yet, it's in some of the more complex tracks, Three Elephants, Zebras, The Wolf, that we really see these six artists flex their compositional muscles, delivering intricate pieces that are a joy to listen to.In short, YMUSIC the album stands on it's own two feet, finally laying bare the creativity and craft that has always made yMusic the ensemble great.1.
