An '80s vibe finds new life in the form of multi-talented musician Sam Millar's debut solo record. Titled InchVirtual Summer,Inch it's 14 slabs of the slickest sounds this side of a hot pink Mustang with the top down and the stereo way, way up. Millar has played and toured as a guitarist for years in other bands, but it wasn't until the pandemic that his love of the sunny-side-up sparked the idea to try his own hand at that perfect balance of catchy choruses and timeless melody. Album Tracks 1. The Killing Floor 2. Fooling Yourself 3. Something I'll Regret 4. When the Summer Ends 5. Chardonnay 1. Showbiz 2. Forget You 3. Dancing on My Own 4. DÉJÀ Vu 5. Neanderthal Man 6. Meet Me Halfway
In their own words Our band is made up by two components, not merged in a unique identity, but rather coexisting. Sticking to the common sense of the word, we never really felt like a group. With it's naivety and brutality, M+A plainly represents our initials just to make the whole thing more tangible and real. It's two people moving forward parallel with one another, though with countless meeting points. Album Tracks 1. Yeloww 2. Yes. Pop 3. Liko Lene Lisa 4. Sommer 5. Bam 6. BL 7. (We) 8. Bergen. Jpg 9. UK duo Red Red Eyes their debut long player, packed with cinematic drones and intricate twangs; a stylish shoegaze noir, or a Broadcast / Morricone / Gainsbourg soundtrack to an episode of Black Mirror. Red Red Eyes are Laura McMahon and Xavier Watkins. While playing together in psychedelic outfit Violet Woods, they started working on McMahons songs, evoking the atmospheres of their shared cinematographic interests. The result is often dark and hypnotic, with McMahons soft vocals being echoed by Watkins delicate guitar. Their first tape was released on Cambridges Meadows records in 2017. Horology was completed later that year, and was quickly snapped up by Londons Wiaiwya records (home of the Leaf Library, Freschard, the Great Electric and many many more). If you like the idea of Tracey Thorn fronting the Banshees, Insides at their dreamiest, Pale Saints at their droniest, rich at their spookiest, or Strawberry Switchblade at their most melancholy, then this might just be the album of your summer!1.
