Q: How is the keyboard powered? battery? what is the life expectancy?

A: It is powered by an Internal Rechargeable battery. It uses a Micro-USB cable to charge it plus I have used it a few days without the need to charge it but then again I don't let it drain all the down before I put it back on the charger. I Love mine and wouldn't trade it for the world: Great Battery Life, Back-lit keyboard and a place to hold my Logi/Apple Pencil can't be beaten.

A: This keyboard is really worth it to me: Great Battery Life, Backlit keyboard, holder for stylus and it actually protects the Ipad all around. Plus don't forget to invest in a tempered glass screen protector also. I almost forgot it's actually Bluetooth and pairs nicely with the IPad, just pair it once and you're set.

A: Yes, it fits the iPad 10.2 7th generation and it does protect it.

Sturdy & protective keyboard case
I am writing this review as I am typing on this zagg rugged messenger keyboard with my iPad. I bought it in person at my local bestbuy. I got this keyboard because i thought it was the best value for a keyboard that has excellent protection not sacrificing quality. This keyboard works good, easy to type on, and function keys are a plus. It fits snug into the iPad 10.2 inch (7th gen). It’s a Bluetooth keyboard, i wish zagg made a good smart connector keyboard for less than $100 for the budget iPad 10.2 (7th gen), but that’s the compromise you make unless you get a premium smart connector keyboard for $140+ whether its from apple or another brand. There is no typing lag with the bluetooth, unless I’m running heavy applications and multiple apps, then there is a slight lag. The other odd thing I experience with this keyboard is there are times when you turn the keyboard on, there’s no issue; but when I go to turn the keyboard off using the power button, the keyboard will power back on by itself. Not a dealbreaker, but it can be annoying trying to fight the keyboard when I want to turn it off. You get 7 backlight colors, each of those colors you can adjust the brightness. You get 5 viewing angles. You can detach the iPad from the keyboard. Here’s 2 things with the magnets: (1) wish i could use it in a reading mode, you cant tuck away the keyboard because the magnets are not that strong to hold it in a reading mode. The keyboard comes with a protective case, so you would have to completely detach the keyboard from the protective case if you want to use it in a reading mode or regular mode. This is a personal thing, but I rather would have the keyboard attached and tucked away than have to completely remove it and put it off to the side if I wanted to use it in tablet mode. (2) But the magnets are very strong when you have the keyboard closed, so you will have solid protection if you drop it, and the keyboard pretty much wont open accidentally. The magnet that attaches the keyboard to the iPad is strong. And the magnet for the 5 viewing angles are strong. You can use it on your lap. but the iPad might fall while on your lap in the lower angles compared to the more upright angles. For weight reference. My 7th gen 10.2 inch iPad is 1 lb 2 oz without any case. The detachable case added makes it 1lb 9oz. And with the keyboard and the detachable case it is 2 lb 12 oz. I’ve only used this for a week so far for about 30 min a day, and haven’t had to charge it yet. There is a battery indicator, but the lights only indicate if it’s above 50%, 25%, or low. Overall, I think this is a great durable keyboard case that doesn’t compromise quality for the price like that of premium keyboards.

Excellent Keyboard and Case!
I tried a Bluetooth keyboard a year or so ago. Didn’t use it long. Then my iPad was knocked off a table and the case it was in failed to protect the screen. It shattered. Got a new iPad and wanted a case that would really product it. I’ve used ZAGG screen protectors for some time and like their quality, so decided to get this case for both protection and to try the keyboard again. Good choice. I haven’t tested the protection ability of the case, and hope I never do, but it just feels like it can take a fall and protect the iPad without any problems. And was very pleasantly surprised by the keyboard. I almost never use my desktop anymore as the keyboard makes my iPad a true mini computer! I do almost everything on the iPad now, as the keyboard makes typing thing vastly easier than using the screen. The only drawback is it’s comparatively heavy. But that’s not an issue for me. I recommend this!

Over all a good Keyboard case.
I would say over all it's a good keyboard case, but the magnet on the case does not always hold the ipad open in place the way it should. It could use a stronger magnet to help hold the case when it's opened up. The keyboard seems to work very well so far and it holds it's charge a long time. I light the backlit keys and the action on the keys is also nice. The case holds the ipad in place when it's closed and stays secure. The Apple Pencil fits in the loop on the back of the case, but the case does tend to slip when you open it if the pencil is in the loop.
