ZERO 7 4th album Yeah Ghost from 2009, spans everything from dance pop to acoustic folk and everything in between it's an idea-splattered work of genius that even includes a quartet of instrumental tracks derived from their experimental side projects and sampled, overdubbed and rebuilt from scratch. From the evocative intro 'Count Me Out' to the album's shuffling, twitchy closer 'All Of Us' - via the haunting 'Solastalgia' and 'Ghost sYMbOL' avant-garde electronic and distorted vocals - it's Zero 7 as you've never heard them before. 'Destiny' this aint. One thing that remains consistent though is the roll call of up-and-coming talent on vocal duties, including singer ESKA Mtungwazi. The Londoner, whose collaboration credits include Matthew Herbert and Bugs In The Attic, appears on 'Mr McGee', 'Medicine Man', 'Sleeper' and 'The Road' & folk singer songwriter/ painter / filmmaker Martha Tilson for Pop Art Blue.This '+ ' edition contains 2 unreleased tracks - Ghost sYMBOL (Klang edition) - the precursor to original album version ' & demo instrumental track 'E Sgwers', plus 'Methods' that was only available on the digital previously.1. Simple Things is a timelessly classic album, with an extra 11 tracks it becomes an essential purchase for any fan.Zero 7 were formed in 1997 by producers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. In 2001 their debut album Simple Things was released selling over a million copies to date and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Zero 7 were also nominated as Best Newcomer at the Brit Awards 2001.Simple Things peaked at no.28 in the UK album chart and spent 89 weeks on the chart. In 1984 Ghost was formed in Tokyo. In the beginning, they played only improvisation / freeform music. But when they started their first recording in 1988, their music changed to a more constructed style. Their music is based on acoustic guitar usually, but a number of ethnic instruments are added. And the places they play are unique-Buddhist temples, churches, ruins, fields, woods, caves... Such strange methods are indicative of their folk rock expressionism. Drag City.
