Zola / Pugh,Leighton - Germinal - AUDIO BOOKS [CD]

Nana Coupeau is a beautiful woman, able to attract men of enormous wealth with the crook of her finger. Part-time prostitute, part-time actress, she makes her debut in a mediocre operetta The Blonde Venus at the bustling Paris World's Fair of 1867. She can't sing, act or dance, yet she is stunning. Nana soon rockets through elite Parisian society, and, blinded by desire, men crawl to her feet, yielding to her every demand. Affections are manipulated, hearts are broken; fortunes are gutted and inheritances squandered. The poverty and violence of Nana's upbringing have led her to a cold and profligate life - a metaphoric indictment of the excesses of France's Second Empire, and a striking example of Zola's Naturalism.

Limited double 180 gram white vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Ison is the debut album of Iranian-born Dutch artist Sevdaliza. After releasing her Edison nominated visual masterpiece Human, and her acclaimed short film The Formula, Sevdaliza is defining art with her mystical audio-visual experiences. So far Sevdaliza already amassed millions of plays on Youtube and Spotify. She recently collaborated with A$AP Ferg and was also featured on Parisian producer STWO's latest single InchHauntedInch. As much as Ison is about the human experience, it is mostly about Sevdaliza returning to her spirit guided by past lives. By following her intuition, her unconscious guided her on a path which one present form might never reproduce. InchAll the knowledge that is not of the senses, not of the intellect, not of the heart but is the property that belongs to the deepest aspect of your being.Inch Ison is an experience of that being. Sevdaliza's melancholic visceral voice ?oats over beds of thumping trip hop dubs, married with classical harmonies and cutting strings setting an enigma. Rhythmic tensions build slowly into chaotic climaxes. ISON has been described as Inchgenre-bendingInch, drawing on various genres.

Les Misérables is set in Paris after the French Revolution. In the sewers and backstreets we encounter 'the wolf-like tread of crime', and assassination for a few sous is all in a day's work. We weep with the unlucky and heartbroken Fantine, and we exult with the heroic revolutionaries of the barricades; but above all we thrill to the steadfast courage and nobility of the soul of ex-convict Jean Valjean, always in danger from the relentless pursuit of the diabolical Inspector Javert. Reader Bill Homewood is well known for his innumerable television performances and leading credits in the West End and for the RSC. His other recordings for Naxos AudioBooks include She, Tom Jones, Allan Quatermain, The Red & the Black, The Three Musketeers, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Four Just Men series.
